What's up with Richmond having only single sex housing for freshmen? Richmond is one of the only schools that I've seen with this scenario. Why did they choose to not have coed freshmen dorms? Are they strict about boys being in girls dorms and vice versa? Where are the boys and girls dorms in relation to each other? Does having single sex freshmen housing affect the culture at Richmond as a whole?

I’m a current freshman and the housing doesn’t affect the culture in any way. The RAs aren’t strict about members of the opposite sex being in the dorms (just the bathrooms). There are two freshman girl’s dorms; one is right in the midst of many guy dorms and the other (which is the biggest) is on the other side of campus. Most guys don’t mind making the trip though.

Thank you!

URgood, would you please provide more details on the freshman women’s housing? For example, is Lora Robins Court less social or quieter than Moore Hall, given its proximity to the other dorms? What is the general preference? Thanks in advance.
