SIR(s) Option

I have a few simple questions:

Can I submit multiple SIRs and cancel all but one after a while? Any risks in this?

Is there any advantage in submitting SIRs early? (cause i think housing app is seperate so thats not necessarily an advantage)

I don't think it's a good idea, but you can try. Just make sure you really can cancel them. But I still don't know why you'd want to do this.

You can get a head start on filling out exciting things like the Statement of Legal Residence and the Hepatitis B statement! Also, you get your university email, which means you can get your university Facebook! But no, not really.

". I don't think it's a good idea, but you can try. Just make sure you really can cancel them. But I still don't know why you'd want to do this.'

Ozphactor is being nice about that. U file multiple SIR's then u have a good chance of being kicked out by all places. By may 1st u respond to ONE place...

How would any college know if any you filed an SIR at another college? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they usually correspond with one another about such matters.

Yeah, I'm playing devil's advocate here. It's fun :P

i thought SIR (Student intent response?) was not binding b/ci fyou are waitlisted at another college then you would have no place to go if you did not respond to any place.

So if you submit you SIR to one college, is it mandatory to tell them that you're appealing other schools and that you may wish to go there if you get in? I really don't want to get my appeals denied and also get kicked out of my second choice.

bump

anyone have any concrete answers?

its like this.. U send in ONE SIR...
Quoting my acceptance letter at Rice: "You should be aware that students who make admission deposits to more than one university may have their offer of admission reviewed with the possible consequnence of the acceptance being withdrawn from all the institutions holding their deposits"

Colleges are known to have swapped ED lists and weeded out those smart asses whothought that signing the contract on their honor wasnt enough.

You send ONE SIR only and thats it. When u send a SIR, u are committing to attend to that univeristy. A waitlist is a different story. You drop out of that college u sent the SIR to (opening a slot for a wl person in that college) to join college B...

Holding two seats is not allowed nor is it morally correct, so please dont do it
Thats as concrete as I can make it,
Antarius

heh, i can tell you're a bit annoyed, but thank you regardless for taking the time to answer my question

:]

I have a question about this too. For SDSU the SIR and all transcripts are due on May 1st, but some of the UCs I want to go to aren't giving out their decisions until April 30th or longer. Would it be ok to send an SIR to SDSU, but cancel later if I get accepted into the UCs that I want to? I mean those are pretty unfair dates if we can't do that. (on SDSU's site, it just said that if you give up on SDSU, then the $100 deposit you send them will be taken)

April 30th is before may 1st... wait for the UC's first.. then reply as most prolly its May 1st Postmarked..

and np spacemonkey :)

unfortunatly, it said that it has to be recieved by May 1st...

damn... thats really bad. Unless is it possible to send it by a one day courier? Otherwise i dont know...

Why is the UC stuff coming out so late???
