Ha! Predictably, it breaks down as I press 'submit.'

YESSSSS!!

It's out! It's finally, finally out! I am compleeeeeete!!

(until mid-December... how am I gonna make it that long... oh heck I know I'll just get deferred anyways).

I'm having worse luck than you, I'm afraid:

i want to send it on sunday...

but that seems too risky now...

By all means, if you're ready and the site's up, take full advantage! It just came back up for me, and apparently, somewhere along the way, Part II got submitted.

I hope it wasn't corrupted or incomplete O.O The server was very spotty and inconsistent, and I must have tried to press 'submit' several times.

wow, that's very scary.

if it is incomplete, then it would greatly lower your chances.

you better hope that its not corrupted.

Joyful Joyful we adore thee MIT IT Staff, because I have finally handed my fate over to the office.

Submitted, finally, and no hiccups. Curiously, the strict online word limit on the optional essays is 640 words, not 500 as stated. This is true for practically all the other essays.

Anyway, this moment deserves a screenshot:

zoogie:

You're a mac guy?

mognoose:

I know that feeling. At least I'm pretty confident about Champaign.

Actually, I'm not, but you have to admit that Macs look unbelievably cool, from the squishing windows when you minimize them (I have a picture of that somewhere) to the pearly white boxes to the whole GUI in general. I'm using Stardock's WindowBlinds (free version) software to make my computer look kinda like a Mac.

It seems you use Windowblinds too, or maybe StyleXP?

Ah, I never saw that message, it must have been forgone in the server hiccups...

zoogies:

I forget what I used, but its a "modified" .dll that allows for the use of, erm, "third party" windows themes.

NeoWin, I remember, Google for Neowin if you want it. Doesn't take up extra RAM (since it isnt a background app), just more processes for your video chip.

I know the MyMIT site is already up, but I accidentally went to this site http://web.mit.edu/admissions/common/tempunavailable.html that was in my history, so I was wondering if the deadline is still Nov. 1 or Nov. 4.

The deadline has been extended to Nov. 4th. I have no clue why, the site was only down for a day, and not even a whole day at that.

O.O omg YES!!

But you all have learned your lesson and are going to submit soon, far in advance of the extended deadline, yes? :)

Of course, ms. mollie, like the good little children we are =D

MIT has technical issues.....

hahahahahaa

Sabotoge at MIT? Just kidding........I am always amazed that this "computer" school has such a reputation for not doing things well online. HAA HAHA

Oooorrrr it could just be that the school's so popular and that MIT underestimated the impact of moving the blogs up front and really expounding on the Central Meetings?

Is this purely an online or paper and online deadline extension?

I'd call to make sure. I think it'd be unfair if they had different deadlines for online and paper.

I can log in, oddly, so, apparently, yes, on the deadline seems to have been extended to Nov. 4.

"Early Action Deadline extended
10.30.2005

We are extending the deadline for Early Action applications to November 4th as a result of the technical issues we experienced over the weekend.

We apologize for any inconvenience."

If they say the Early Action deadline is Nov. 4th, it's Nov. 4th, whether online or on paper (for postmark), I'd bet on it.
