six year

Do you need a 4.0 to get into a six year program. I have a 3.5, but i want to go to medical school. And i dont know if i should just do undergraduate and then apply after i get better grades in college. or if i should apply to six or seven year programs. I dont think i have a very good chance at six years because of my gpa. Well any help would be appreciated.

Junior in high school
uw gpa: 3.5
SAT: 2250
ACT: 33
500 hours at hospital
I did get a C but it was in U.S. history

your test scores are very good but your gpa may be a tad low for these programs. I suggest you just apply anyways because you may get into some of the easier programs (like the drexel medical programs which have been statistically easy to get into). Btw, the competition is not based on how many years the program is but it is based on the prestige of the program and how many people are applying.

hey is the drexel med program any good? Is it cutthroat competition, or is it chill? do we have to take the MCAT? does somebody have a link that has all this info?

http://www.drexel.edu/coe/special/accelerated/bs_md.asp

drexel programs are generally easy to get into compared to other programs. But yes, unfortunately you do have to do the MCATs (the score requirement is a 27 i think which is not bad at all). I don't know how hard the program actually is. They have undergrad at Lehigh, Drexel, Monmouth (in NJ), Villanova, and some other places . If you're a senior, all the deadlines have passed.

It don't believe it says in those sites posted above about Drexel, but do you know if they accept the ACT?

in my opinion, RICE/Baylor is one of the top programs if not the best

foodisgood: I think it's an MCAT score of 30 that is recquired, not 27.

fjm_001: I'm pretty sure they accept the ACTs, there is no harm in calling them as soon as possible and asking them, however.

Sergio1337: I agree with you. From what I've heard and from what I've researched, Rice/Baylor does seem to be a top contender for being one of the best accelerated med programs.

Regarding the MCAT, what I understood from the website is that if you get a min. of a 9 in each section a 27 is acceptable, but if you get less than a 9 in a section you must have a 30, with none of the sections being less than a 7(if I remember correctly).

Oh, well that makes sense.

how is drexel easy to get into if only 8 people are granted admission?

if you have good stats, it should be pretty stress free. I heard of people with 1350s getting in (but that was a few years ago). I would say a 1450 sat should put you in pretty far.

the only 6 year programs are UMKC and PSU
.....did yall apply to them?
