size of beds in dorms

Hi i was just wondering what size the beds in the dorms are. My friends were talking about getting bedding and such and deciding between twin and twin xl. I was just wondering which size beds there are at cornell (especially balch) Thanks

i believe all beds are twin XL (the XL being extra long)

Extra Long Twins

okee, thanks

Don’t freak out if you have trouble finding Twin XL, though; my regular twin-size sheets have fit perfectly fine on multiple beds at Cornell.

You can find them SOMETIMES–it’s a little difficult.

Target, Bed Bath and Beyond and many similar stores all have a good selection of Twin XL sheets. If you can’t find them now, you will find them relatively easily during the summer.

I plan on getting all my sheets and stuff while I’m in Rochester the day before orientation starts. Hopefully wal mart will have stuff, haha.

I just ordered some bedding from delias.com. Dorm set, so i’m hoping it’ll fit.

yes twinXL will usually only be sold in stores that are college towns…

you can order some nice bedkits online…

ahhh I love delia’s!! =D didn’t know they sold bedding…im going to go check it out.

there is a Bed Bath & Beyond in Ithaca and a Target - both have xl twin. BBB runs a program that you can order stuff at home to be picked up in Ithaca around move-in day - good if you are flying in from afar. The Target store will run out of stuff but will re-stock soon - new students move-in a couple days beofre returning students so you will first crack at the stuff you need. there are threads on this topic from prior years that might be good to search and read…

fyi… don’t spend too much money on your freshman year sheets/comforter. once i moved out of the dorms after freshman year, all of my beds in collegetown and at a fraternity were doubles (full sized).

if you have room in your car, buy sheets etc ahead of time because target, walmart, bedbath are a zoo on move in day. Walmart, pier one and bed bath are all near wegmans at the bottom of the hill and target is up at the mall past cornell (ie: opposite sides of town). therefore it can be an issue to deal with driving around town all day.

zfanatic… you should be able to go to walmart or target in rochester. there is a target at eastview mall (victor/bushnells basin exit) that is really good and on the way to cornell (you take 490 to route 90 to route 89 (waterloo exit) and drive down the lake for the scenic view or route 90 to 96 at geneva exit - the mall is the last exit on 490 before getting onto route 90). that may be confusing so PM me for more advice. also there is a bed bath and beyond on monroe avenue near pittsford plaza which is not too far off route.

does anybody know the depth of the mattresses? I am ordering an anti-dust mite cover. thanks in advance
