Hello
I am a transfer student trying to make my decision between SJSU and UC Davis. I am majoring in Sociology and want to attend a graduate program in the future. I am having a hard time making my choice and want to know wether one campus will give me an advantage in getting into a graduate program in the future.
The way I’ve heard it discussed by counselors and students alike, is that the UC track is more catered to those who want to pursue a graduate education, and the CSU track is more geared towards those who are looking to get a degree and a job in a given field, right out of college. That said, if you do well and make connections-- ie., people to give you letters of rec, internships that boost your resume-- you can be seen as an outstanding student from any school you attend, with a great ability to get into a grad program. IF I needed to give a recommendation, and IF UCD is the same cost as SJSU, I would recommend going the UCD route, considering your definite desire to go to grad school. I would also recommend you reach out to advisors at both schools and get their two cents on your individual needs and wants from higher ed.
Good luck!
I was contemplating UCD I just wanted to make sure the costs were worth it because it is significantly more expensive. Thank you for the advice!
