I'm looking for recommendations of colleges that appeal to skateboarders. Proximity to a skatepark and ability to skateboard on campus would be key factors. We would be open to the West Coast, although colleges in the SouthEast would be more appealing. He would have a chance to get into pretty much any college except for the top tier. He is headed for a weighted GPA of 5.0 and hopes to be able to hit 2100 on his SATs.

I was sorry to see that no one replied to your post above. It is now 2013, and I am about to post the same exact question….

Can anybody give me any ideas, suggestions…
Curiosity, what did you end op doing??? THX!

perhaps there was a response, and it was stunned disbelief.

I don’t think it is such an odd question. There is not a nearby skate park that I am aware of, but they are everywhere at Harvey Mudd.

UNC-Wilmington. There are skateboarders everywhere on campus. Some of the buildings (including the cafeterias) have skateboard racks at the entrances.

Wilmington has a skatepark. [City of Wilmington, North Carolina > Community Services > Recreation > Skatepark](http://www.wilmingtonnc.gov/community_services/recreation/skatepark)

Skateboards are a main mode of student transportation at the Claremonts: Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, Pomona, Scripps, and Harvey Mudd. Don’t know about skate parks.

Still looking. My son is a junior in high school.

We have a son who is a sophomore at UNCW. It’s primarily longboarders and my skateboarding son says that it’s not a serious skateboarding scene. But thank you for the suggestion. We have seen skateboarders and longboarders when we have been on campus.

I’m in the same boat as everyone here and know of a website dedicated to making all aware of colleges that embrace skateboarding. Please visit the site and the forums section on it. http://sk8college.com
