Skidmore class of 2018 RD

Who else applied regular decision? What do you like best about Skidmore?

I applied regular decision but considered applying ed2 since I got deferred at my ed1 school and know my chances of getting in rd are slim. But then the thought of giving up my dream school held me back. Now I am pretty sure Skidmore is my number two school!

I love Skidmore campus and really like how unlike most liberal arts colleges that its not in the middle of no where. Saratoga Springs Is a lovely area with tons to do.

My son has applied to Skidmore RD - he also likes the location and the size as it’s not a tiny liberal arts school. He also thinks the male / female ratio might be fun! His twin brother got accepted via ED to his school of choice so waiting until April to find out is hard… But Skidmore is definitely one of his top 2-3 schools. he doesn’t really have a #1

Does anyone know when (and how) notifications will occur? Can’t find a date on the website.

In past years they’ve mailed domestic decisions out snail mail around March 22/23.

I applied as an international student… Kinda low SAT 1…
TOEFL score is good… High SAT SUBJECT SCORES…
4.0 GPA , INTERNATIONAL CHEMISTRY OLYMPIAD ,
COMPUTER ENTREPRENEUR , tons of ecs from co founder of student council to weather analyst to national level exhibition, internship . glowing LORs… what u think guys

any updates as to when decisions will be released??

Daughter received decision via email today; said packet would be mailed on March 24.

Did anyone else receive an email? Do all acceptances get emailed? @susanbpr- Congrats to your daughter!! Is she an international student? Any idea about why some students get emails?

I hope not all acceptances were emailed :frowning:

Decision was emailed last week - packet will be posted on March 24

So if you didn’t receive an email does it mean you were rejected?

Skidmore Admisssions tweeted that decisions will be mailed next week.

Hmmm… then why are some people receiving decisions via email first? Any ideas?

Some schools that usually mail decisions will notify their international applicants via email. Hope this is the case here. Otherwise, many applicants are stressing out if they did not receive an email.

@blitzen thanks!

I hope this clarifies any concerns:

I recieved an email this Monday notifyiing me of my acceptance. It stated that it was an advance notice, and that the official packets would be sent on Monday the 24th. In my email, it said that the advance notice was to invite me to attend a conference for underrepresented minors (I’m Hispanic). Based on this, I would conclude that if you didn’t get an email, you shouldn’t worry at all. They probably only sent the email to students (like me) who qualified for either this or another conference.

Any internationals who’ve been notified?

@bluebilla I’m from India and am still waiting for a decision… I think only the URMs and the people invited to the conferences and open-houses have received a decision so far…

@upapilot I think you are correct. The admissions office told us last week that domestic decisions will be mailed on Monday.

Yeah I was admitted to Skidmore last Monday and same thing about the packets arriving the 24th. I’m also hispanic and considered and underrepresented minority so that’s probably the only reason why I received my decision in advanced. But good luck to all that have applied. My SAT scores were just awful: 1740, but my GPA is 3.9/4.0 took about 3 AP’s last year and 3 this year, Extracurriculars: NHS president, President student council, created a non-profit organization in my community, Mock Trial, created Model UN in my school, theater, choir, participated in Obama campaign, Ed Markey campaign and local campaigns. 300+ community service hours! Just some insight!
