hey @iambibliophile . I am sorry to say, but whoever told you that you couldn’t get above an 1100 was just being a naysayer at the time. Do not listen to them! You proved them wrong anyway.
And like I’ve said before, your SAT score is just 1 part of your up to about 9 parts of your application. Your academic transcript is more important, an admissions officer from Skidmore has said this before on a college live chat, and she also said that the SAT is a good supplement and support to the transcript. The convert ranges of scores to the new SAT of accepted students is from about 1190 - 1410 (college board reference). (Explanation - 25% of students enrolled scored at or below 1190, 25% of students enrolled scored at 1410 or above, and 50% scored in the middle range.
Your interview is meant for them to get a more personal knowledge of your character, personality, etc. It is a good support.
The college will NOT penalize you for not taking AP courses IF your school didn’t offer them. You are evaluated based on what was AVAILABLE to you and how you used it.
A HIGH SAT scored does not GUARANTEE admission. A LOW SAT score does NOT mean AUTOMATIC REJECTION. And for your case, you are even in the range (1190 - 1410) and a bit above 25% of students.
Everything you submit is considered. Grades, Test scores, Essay, Teacher and Counselor Recommendations, Rigor of Courses Taken, etc.). It is not just 1 thing from these that gets you accepted or rejected; it is the sum of all these and how they blend together that show if you are a right fit for the institution.
guys/girls! i am curious if skidmore makes sure everyone (including internationals) has their mail exactly due feb 15 or is it more flexible? i am just so nervous i dont think i can wait even a day longer than that.
@iambibliophile and @munit123 , what are you referring to?
also, have any of you guys (RD applicants, i guess) received any emails from Skidmore? Because I just made a quick search in my emails and didn’t find anything from them. Is there an applicant portal?
@neuromaniac She’s asking about when the admission decisions will come out for ED2 applicants, which is around Feb. 15th. And Skidmore doesn’t use applicant portals. They will just send you an email saying your application is complete/ only contact you when you are missing a document
Applied to Skid RD, and I’m so happy about it!
Girl from a NY competitive public high school in the suburbs - we don’t do class rank
32 ACT
3.8 unweighted GPA out of 4.0
My midyear grade report from this year is the highest it’s been in my entire high school career
5 APs by the time I graduate, the rest of my schedule is honors/advanced classes
I applied undecided, but I am interested in Politics, English, Music, Arts Administration, and a Business-Govt dual degree. One of the main reasons why I love Skidmore is how much they offer that I’m interested in! Their course catalog is incredible.
I had an interview with an alum off-campus and it was my favorite interview ever, it made me even more stoked to apply!
Lots of ECs because I love keeping myself busy with my passions. You can look back on my profile to see them listed on other threads if you’re curious.
Well, I’m excited/nervous for Decision Day! Skid has honestly become one of my top choices and one of my best friends attends and loves it. Best of luck to everyone!
@munit123 who was the interviewer? I was more nervous then I was in SAT during interview. and I didnt know that she was admission officer I thought she was a random alumni. I replied her thanks email like " i can inform you of results if you desire so" i mean how stupid could i be. if i get rejected it is nobody but me to blame
@iambibliophile. Yes, it is admissions officers that interview us for the Skidmore Skype interviews. I don’t really understand what you just said. Your email to him/her after the interview was that you could send them your test scores or something? And how did you later find out that he’s/she’s indeed an admissions officer?
the thing is after interviewing she sent me an email like thank you for interviewing. because i thought she was an alumni i thought it would be good idea to let her know when i get accepted/rejected. after sending an reply and offering to inform her the decision i went on googled her name. she was not alumni apparently and she never wrote me back. ı am just wishing that i have not ruined a well went interview with my stupid email
