<p>Yup, the PSAT has no essay, its shorter, and I think the math is bit easier. Just prep for the SAT and towards the PSAT test date take a couple practice tests to get used to the shorter format. You should be fine!</p>

It provides a pretty accurate prediction of your SAT score.
I got a 199 on the PSAT and a 1990 on my first SAT…go figure.</p>
<p>I wouldn’t say the PSAT gives an accurate prediction of your SAT score… if anything, I’ve noticed that people’s SAT scores are almost always higher than the “predicted” score.</p>

<p>But I still think you should take the PSAT. It’s good practice for taking the SAT not only because it’s very similar, but also because it’s a real administered test - you’ll build confidence working under pressure.</p>
<p>Yeah I’m definitely taking the PSAT. I think it doesn’t give you an accurate score for your SAT because there are less questions, so you would have to get more right for a higher score.</p>

<p>Definitely take the PSAT because it is helpful if you get the National merit scholarship and its also good practice for the SAT. But its better to just use the SAT supplies to study for the PSAT because the tests are very similar (except for essay of course)

<p>You can take it frosh and soph year, but only juniors can qualify for National Merit (which is the whole point of taking it).</p>

<p>Preparing for the SAT automatically preps you for the PSAT. The PSAT is essentially an easier and shorter form of the SAT.</p>
