Skipping Final Semester & Filler Classes

Two questions, a bit related.

Will completely skipping Spring 2012 put me at a disadvantage (speaking strictly of admission)?

I'll have over 60 semester units by the end of Fall, IGETC complete, Pre-requisites in the bag. But 2.5 years of community college have taken their toll on me and I don't plan on going back after this semester unless it will affect my admission.

Have any of you heard of people being rejected or perhaps being at a disadvantage in the admissions process for taking random classes?

I'll have my pre-reqs done for philosophy this fall (only need 1 more) and currently have an overall 3.73 (applying to UCLA/Cal/UCSD). My plan was to take a couple more non-prerequisite philosophy classes to show interest in my major, but given that taking more phil. classes this semester would have ruined my schedule, I fit in whatever was available for me: Social Problems, Literary Approaches to Film, and Black Psychology.

Any input is appreciated, even if it's just 'something you heard'. Thanks.

Not at all. I took Spring off before I transferred but explained on my app [on why I wasn’t taking Spring courses] that I completed all pre-reqs and had enough units. I had to repeat my explanation when UCs requested more info about my educational gaps. I recommend using any notes section to clarify your Spring plans.

Not at all.

Nope

Nope
I occasionally take random classes that I am interested in like astronomy, yoga, health psychology, etc. Life’s short, you know :)

The second question, admittedly, is a bit ridiculous. It’s something that’s been bothering me for a while b/c aside from pre-reqs and IGETC, much of what I’ve ever taken is stuff that fit my schedule (picking of course whatever most interested me within those limitations).

Thanks for the replies fellas.
