sleepovers

whats princeton's policy on overnight adventures aka sleepovers?

Funniest question ever. No sleepovers are allowed. Didn’t you know that?

playdates end at 10PM no exceptions!! and no candy or your mommy will get mad

boooo! im serious! i;m trying to find out how long u can have a viitor stay with you. the type thats of the opposite gender

Just bring her in a suitcase. That’s how East Germans slept over in West Germany all the time.

Princeton does not actively enforce any sort of policy regarding visitors of the opposite sex. As long as your roommates are cool with it, you shouldn’t have any problems. Last year, one of my roommates had a friend from another school stay in our room for an entire week.

In the old days you would have hundreds of girls from the Seven Sisters and other Eastern girls schools stay for the whole weekend, since Princeton was all male (60’s and before) or the ratio was something like 80-20 (in the 70’s).

The question, however, should be taken seriously as there are some other major universities that do NOT allow people of the opposite sex past a certain time in the dorm room - 1:00 am for Pepperdine, for instance.

Jobes, your first post is in my opinion pretty obviously pointing at something, but let’s be clear – are you talking about nailing someone or having a platonic friend sleep over? Big difference in terms of how it would be handled with your roommates, although Princeton wouldn’t care.

im talking abt my BOYfriend coming up for a visit for a bit bc his winter break is wayyy longer than mine lol

That is your own business, not the school’s. Of course you can have someone “sleepover” in your room; this isn’t high school anymore.

i’m just making sure. At my boyfriend’s college, there were rules as to how late you could have members of the opposite gender in your room…i know, crazy lol. just making sure so i don’t have to sneak around :)

Oh ok. There’s actually a school close to where I live that has similar policies (it’s a religiously-affiliated school). But yeah, none of that at Princeton.

No, but you’ll need to talk to your roommates. Each room is different, so do not expect anything (acceptance/rejection).

In most rooms, for example, that wouldn’t be a problem, but in mine, no one would be okay with another person having sex with someone in the room.

Yeah, coordination with roommates is definitely key. I live in a quad, and we’re supposed to text our immediate roommate if one of us is coming home with a girl so the roommate can set up camp on the futon in the common room and pretend to be asleep by the time the lovebirds arrive.

okay thanks everyone! i just wanted to make sure there werent rules against having someone spend a few nights (if ur roommate was cool with it). hotels in princeton aren’t the cheapest, and it would make sense that if you had a guest, they would stay with you lol

jobes, if you have a one room double it will be a little difficult on your roomate if you brought over a guest for the weekend, compared to the 4 person suites as mentioned above.

Don’t rush things at the beginning, otherwise you might start with your roomate on the wrong foot.

The ideal situation would be for your roomate to be traveling or staying someplace else already during the weekends that your boyfriend might come over.

How did it work out? lol my girlfriend is going to Princeton next year & she wants me to sleepover but idk how the rules work out, do i just walk in? get a visitors pass & stay overnight or how did it work out for you? lol i would appreciate your answer

Current student here. You just walk in. No visitor’s passes, so you need a Princeton student to let you into buildings (they open w/ a special ID card). Your girlfriend will need to clear it with her roommates if applicable but otherwise, there are no special regulations or anything.

It used to be (when Princeton was all-male) that after a certain hour (10 pm I believe) ladies were no longer allowed inside of dormitories. Instead, everyone was forced to take their girl to Chancellor Green (which was a social hall on campus). But now that Chancellor Green has been converted into a library, they pretty much let the girls sleep over and eliminated the curfew.

That said … I’ve heard that Chancellor Green still has a bar in it …
