I had a 4.0 UW GPA (All As and A+s) for my first 3 years in HS. But my senior year, I am taking AP Chem and AP Lang (two hardest classes for me) and will get an A- in both of them. I am getting an A+ in AP Calc BC, Orchestra, and Astronomy Honors.
I took 5 AP classes last year and got 4 A+s and 1 A, so the colleges will know that I can handle AP classes and might think I am slacking.
I am applying to Ivys (HYP) and other tier 1 schools.
Will I be OK? Although A-s might not seem bad, it’s a downward curve for senior year which is bad, my courseload this year may not seem that hard to college ad coms, and I may get a B+ for my 2nd quarter for Lang, which they will also see
Relax
All 5 of the HPYSM admits from my school last year had sub-2100 SAT scores and a healthy mix of A’s and B’s
Heck I know one kid at Harvard who got a C in geometry freshman year
But maybe my school is just weird b/c we have at least 5-7 HPYSM admits every year out of a class of ~60
@ladieth your school does very well in the college application process. You basically have ten percent of your graduating class go to the most selective universities in the country.
OP, you’ll be fine. Your senior year grades are not going to be what keeps you out of those schools (in the case that you don’t get accepted).
