So I guess it ends up being UCR or SLO for me. I know SLO is better overall as I checked rankings for schools in CA and it was placed 19 being UCI while SLO was placed 27. However, for the nation’s best public schools UCR at least placed no. 40 while SLO had nothing. Also, since I’m majoring in bio I saw that UCR placed 68 for overall in the nation while SLO had none. One plus for UCR is that I’m hoping to attain a higher gpa at UCR than SLO so I can get into a good grad school. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

SLO is not in the same category of “National Universities” with all the UCs since it only goes up to master program. For the US news ranking, you need to check into Master’s Universities - West
[Master’s Universities (West) Rankings - Best Colleges - Education - US News and World Report](http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/college/masters-west-search)

From what I’ve seen, UCR has a higher ranking just because its a UC and CP doesn’t just because its a CSU. Rankings are bias by virtue, don’t trust them. Cal Poly is vastly underrated by ranking and that’s just the way it is. Rankings don’t actually mean anything so you should just go by which college you like better.

As far as GPA goes, no one really knows which one is easier because no one has gone through both. It’s hard to compare any colleges in that regard really.

My advice, don’t worry about ranking and GPA, those aren’t good reasons to one college or the other IMO

Since CPSLO is ranked among Masters universities, and UCR is ranked among schools that offer doctorate degrees, you won’t find them in the same rankings lists. The only objective measure I know of that allows you to compare the two schools is “selectivity” as determined by statistics of incomming freshman. CPSLO is clearly the more “selective” university. CPSLO is also less expensive by more than $4000 per year (in state tuition + room & board).
