I was just wondering how many People have allready sent back in there info on SLS. I still have to send mine in and want to make sure that there is room in the second session. Thanks for the help

I just sent my registration packet in about a week ago even though I probably had it for atleast a month prior. It took awhile for my JROTC unit to pass a thing that allowed them to sponsor me and pay for the camp. I requested session B but haven't heard anything back yet, I hope I can get it because session A interferes with Boys State.

lol and what number SLS thread is this? 4th or 5th? and why do all the SLS threads seem to have the second 's' lowercase? shouldn't it be "SLS"?

if you do have to go to the first session, go!!!
I have heard varying stories about its impotance, but SLS builds a good relationship between you and the academy and gives oppertunities that normal candidates do not get. I was invited to USNASS, boys state, SLS, USAFA SS, and the USCGA AIM program...SLS did not interfer with boy's state, but USAFA did. I decided to go to USAFA. After talking to my friends who went to boy's state, I felt that Co. Springs, Co. was a better place to visit than some lame state college LOL. Seriously, only go to boy's state if you think your leadership is weak or could be improved. I had enough stuff, eagle etc, so I did not have to go. Although I did not get credit, I mentioned on the application to USMA that I was invited to Boy's State.

I actually just got the mail earlier and in it was my confirmation packet from USMA saying that I was was put in Session B so looks as if things will work out for the best. Allthough I haven't heard back from USNA yet and I'm already attending USMA and USAFA this summer and boys State is still iffy iffy, how would you all rank the importance of Boys State over the Summer Seminars?

I already have leadership covered pretty well I think, many higher up positions in JROTC, Student Council Representive, Quiz Bowl Team Captain and should have several officer positions in a couple of clubs by the end of the year (NHS Mu alph theta etc.) so what do you all think?

I've heard that if Boys' State interferes with SLS, then go to Boys' State. It is very highly held by WP and the other service academies. However, you have to take into consideration you just enjoying yourself. You will probably have more fun at SLS. Just weigh your options, talk to your parents and decide where to go from there.

what is SLS? i go not to sls. i wentz to detroits. no needz fora twhat evere or the a bosys tsytat state. slurs.

dyson bennis-

I was wondering if you are allowed to keep vehicles on the campus during the SLS week. I am planning on driving if possible. Thanks

I sent mine in for session A, but havent gotten anything back. I live in india though, so i dont really expect anything for a few weeks so it might already be in the mail.

Has anyone signed on to their candidate resource page yet to fill out your travel info for SLS? Near the bottom it asks you for your estimated 2 mile run time. What do yal think this is for? Only thing I could think of is that it is so they can group us in squads or platoons of fellow candidates of similar physical fitness.

I'm not exactly sure what my time is, I usually run minimum 3 miles, but I'm guesing mine is around 15 - 16 min (I know, I'm slow I've got endurance but not speed)

^ I heard that's what they do. Good for me, I'm quite probably the slowest of the applicant pool this year.

I'm still waiting to hear from RSI before I send in my SLS form. Hopefully the session I want won't be filled up.

I haven't filled out travel plans yet. I was originally going to contact WP to see what I should do, but I think I'm just going to make my arrangements. Right now it looks like I'm taking a nonstop to Newark, then going to WP and staying at Holiday Inn Express there, but not yet sure.

wpwannabe --

How are you getting from Newark to USMA?

what are some of yals 2-mile run times? maybe some of us can get in the same squad or platoon.

Like I said before I'm guessing mine is around 15 - 16min, I'll have an exact time tomorrow when I get back from xcountry practice.

if you fly into newark there are academy buses which will take you to usma.

I've been accepted to week one, and my two mile time is 10:30

^ Are you kidding? Wow.

My guess is my 2 mile is somewhere around 12:30. Not too bad, but still can be improved on.

I got into the second week and said my two mile time was 10:50. I'm pretty stoked.

my two mile time is 8:35

cause i stop when i get tired.

just kidding...

hahahaha... 4:17 mile? wow. :D

jeez yals 2 mile run times are super fast compared to me, I know my 1 mile time averages around 7 min(best 6:49) so I'm just guesing at 15 for me, I dunno maybe its a little faster but jeez lol we'll see tomorrow. I hope everyone there isn't as fast as you 10:30ish people. Past SLSers do you all think I'll be fine running around a 7ish min mile? I have endurance but no speed :(

And whats the extent of the physical stuff at SLS, as far as the most stuff we'll be doing each day?
