I heard back from NASS about a month ago saying that they have accepted me. I have yet to hear from USMA (the school i really want to attend) about the SLS. Any idea when i will hear from them? I'm assuming that if it has taken this long I am not a shoe in - have you heard of people not getting accepted until late in the process? Thanks

When did you apply to SLS? I applied back in early January and got an invitation back around Valentine's day. I also applied to the NASS back in early February except I haven't heard anything back yet. I don't really mind about Naval because I want to go to Westpoint, but I think it really depends about how you fall in the pool of applicants as to when you get your letter. I called and asked Westpoint when I would hear back and they said that they send out rejection letters very quickly so I wouldn't be too bummed about not hearing anything back yet. Lemme know if you get in.

Sounds good... i applied within a week or two of receiving the application back when it first came out - for some reason i thought NASS would be harder to get into but it appears that they accept 1,800 students whereas SLS only accepts 800 or so. Anyway, thanks for the info.

Yeah... didn't get into the summer seminar - just have to work harder for the real thing now!

If you don't get into any of the summer programs don't worry. I was turned down for IAW (now SLS), but later recieved a LOA and an appointment.

I got turned down for IAW last year as well. As a matter of fact, NO ONE from my state was selected.

I received my Appointment in January, so don't lose hope!

Doug

I recieved my letter of rejection to IAW on Saturday. Kind of a bummer, but I am on a waiting list for USNA SS which is my first choice of Academies. Still waiting.......
ZN

I'm confused, Doug, I thought they tried to get a more wide-ranging group--from all over.

Zero, how does the waiting list work--will they let you know when they get the paperwork back from others? We were pleased how fast NASS let us know... Now if we could just hear from CGA so we could buy a plane ticket!

None from my state! IAW is much more difficult to get in to, than, say, Navy--simply because West Point takes fewer kids.

Hang in there heartcross--I was in the same situation about this time last year! Send me a PM and I can give you some travel info.

Doug

Well, I'd PM you if I could get the silly board to let me sign up for PM! Our problem is that dd has to fly out to Rome the day after CGA (if she gets in)So, her flight plans are complicated...

Captain Leahy notified me of the placement on the waiting list and he said i would hear a response no later than may 1st.
Zero

I have heard some go to the seminars, but are rejected from admission and visa versa. This seems quite confusing. If you did not get in, do you think it was SATs or lack of leadership etc.

I heard CGA AIM is not till May 15. Its a real pain since I'm in all three others. I know I'm in AIM, but no official letter to let me sleep at night.

I went to both NASS and IAW (Now SLS) and boy am I glad I did...made me realize which academy I wanted to be at. They are great programs, but I encourage you if you don't get into them, don't give up hope, if you're meant to be there, you'll go. Also...go on a candidate visit...and if you get an LOA or appointment, make sure you take an overnight visit before you go!

Don't worry about it, I got in SLS last friday, April 15th. However, this may be because I sent out the application April 5th and they probably didn't receive it until a week later. Also I got in NASS early March but thats because I filled out the application Feb. 1st
