hi guys....i got waitlisted in the program (and at cornell..darnit), you know when they tell you about the results? also, do you think the UIC honors college full ride is good enough to get you into a really good medical school? any feedback..

im doing the program but i called because i know who people got waitlisted
i think they waitlisted everybody they didn't accept. i've never heard of slu rejecting people. anyways, the lady said end of april.

1500 marked they want the program and only 80 were selected. I know of 4 people who are not going. i don't know how they rank the waitlists

1420 kids got waitlisted??? that's a lot of kids, i mean how sure are you that everybody who did not get accepted got waitlisted?

well i mean that people with at least minimum stats will get waitlisted. other random kids probably were denied. the thing is, i have NEVER met, or talked to a person whos gotten rejected by SLU for anything. i don't think they like the word "reject" and therefore use waitlist

cookiemonster, u got a full ride to UIC, or are u talkin about the honors college scholarship?

i dont exactly what i got, but i think its the honors college scholarship...not too sure. my mom has all the documents and she's out of the country, but I do know that I wont end up having to pay atleast for tuition? do you think the honors college is good enough to get you into a good med school like JHU, harvard etc.

1500? my friend got a waitlist paper and on it, it said that 550 people applied...

1500 is what the college of medicine director told me as well as a secretary for the pre-professional health center.

if its 550,then its 550.

care to put some of the letter on?

I didnt apply for the full tuition scholarship so I didnt meet the director of the program but everyone else I have talked to, the secretary of pre-professional health studies, 2 academic counsellors at SLU, all tell me that 1200 people applied and many were rejected and about 60-80 were accepted (i dont remember the exact number) but there is no cap on the number of people being accepted, so hopefully waitlisted people can still get in.

Any thoughts on which is a better choice- SLU (giving me $12,000) or BU (no money). Also I have a full ride at U of Miami but a denial in their med program. I got interview at HPME but did not make teh final cut.

My best friend and I got in, and we both had 30s on our ACT. We're both very highly ranked in our class and did STARS together. I'm happy to be attending the program with her. But I'm surprised at the caliber of students being waitlisted. It's quite indimidating, actually, to see that someone with a 34 was waitlisted, while we were both accepted with only 30s. Obviously, SLU is looking for something more.

yes. they look at more than scores, which is what i really like. In the end, good clinicians aren't all about scores. its the passion for medicine that really matters [research, programs, volunteering, other medical stuff etc.]

Hey anyone have any news or any letters yet??

nope. i heard there is no interview for this one?

there's no interview and you find out on march 1st.

yeah, you don't get accepted into the medical program until later, so in that sense, it isn't really guaranteed.

what do we have to do to get accepted into the medical program? its not guaranteed?

The acceptance rate is about 95% though for Med Scholars.

this is a good program!

i've heard a lot of not so good things about this program . . . in terms of how "guaranteed" it actually is.

addnon, where did you get the 95% stat from?

anyone going down for the presidential scholarship weekend?
