Hi everyone, I was just notified that I’ve been invited to interview for the Presidential Scholarship! I was wondering if anyone knows the stats of how many people apply for the scholarship, how many are invited to interview, and how many receive it? I’ve heard that 500 are invited to interview, which makes me super nervous.
Thanks!
I’m still waiting on that call… 35 act and 4.5 weighted gpa with good extracurriculars… I will be thoroughly disappointed if I do not receive an interview
Have you heard? @blountwil2 Do they only notify everyone on one day? @ally621
I didn’t hear anything either way, honestly I don’t have alot of hope left and if slu doesn’t want me that’s cool too I suppose
@ally621 how were you notified? Was it via mail, email, or a phone call? Just wondering because my phone has been out for a few days which makes me nervous
@keurig83 @red2478 I was notified via phone and email. Don’t worry if you haven’t heard because they gave me the impression that they notify students by region, not all at the same time.
Ally, what region are you from? I’m getting quite worried too.
@noevie I’m from kentucky. I’m sure they will notify you regardless of the decision so don’t worry too much!
i agree with you @noevie . @ally621 what are the weekend dates? i feel like they would have called to give time to make and change schedules so that all can attend
I’ll be coming!
What were your thoughts on the weekend?
D '17 attended (and I tagged along). I thought it was well done and D’17 bonded well with the scholar hosts and potential scholars. For a big university, there was a surprising amount of hand-holding and personal service. I know it is more of a recruiting weekend than an award weekend, but while we aware of that, it still worked.
Of course, the atypical February weather made the weekend more pleasant. D’17 met with her potential department and received some good advice. There is an obvious constructions boom going on and around the campus.
I was surprised at how many candidates were already committed to attended. I had expected more to be like us; if D’17 gets the scholarship I think
@Dave_N That’s interesting. We didn’t talk to anyone who had SLU as their top choice, which was a little concerning to me. Good to hear that you heard the opposite. We were most impressed with the specific department tour/information. Found Friday night to be a little chaotic and awkward. The weekend was very well-organized. You’re right, lots of hand-holding. We always knew where we were supposed to be and there was always someone available to answer questions.
