indicate how you first became interested in St. Lawrence.

Gangly, lanky, and awkward, I first stepped onto the St. Lawrence campus during the summer of 2010. I had taken the three hour drive to Canton in order to attend LSU's cross country camp. Standing on the steps of the residence hall that would be my home for the next week, I nervously hugged my father goodby. I had no idea what was in store for me.
The days that followed were filled with track workouts and ultimate frisbee, with first acquaintances and evolving friendships. The entire time that I was caught in this whirlwind of activities, the knowledge that St. Lawrence was much more than a summer camp location was held deep in the back of my mind. I realized it was a college, of course, but St. Lawrence always seemed too astounding, too far out of reach to potentially be a place where I could spend four years of my life.
Through my awe-clouded eyes, I saw bright, free-thinking students, confident in their ideas and opinions. I saw a beautiful campus, equipt with all the innovative science labs and track equiptment I could ever dream of. What I could not see, however, was where I would fit into this equation.
Several years later, I am now able to look back on my week at St. Lawrence through clear eyes. Although still brimming with awe, the haze has cleared, allowing me to realistically assess this school based on my needs as a student. As I look back, though, the factors that amazed me years ago about St. Lawrence are now the very elements that draw me to it. Today I can see myself here, a little piece of the incredible puzzle that is St. Lawrence.
