Are Vet-Schools just as expensive as a normal college? I plan to go to a school called Slippery Rock University just because of how cheap it is, however it's still very hard for my parents even though it's going to cost about 20,000 a year total. I don't think it's a great school, so i only wanted to go for up to 2 years then transfer to a better school (but better schools cost more money so even that probably won't happen).

So I was just wondering though, is Vet school going to cost the 40 or 50k that normal colleges cost? Because if so, I don't really see a point in me going to become a Vet since thats 8 years of college and 1 year is hard enough to pay for. I'm also considered an International Student to federal loans or scholarships wouldn't do anything...

To become the normal vet a person would go to, a Small-Animal Vet, is there anyways to be one without going to Vet school then?

Vet schools are incredibly expensive. The school I’ll be attending next year estimates the first year budget (including room and board, etc.) at about $70,000. Maybe you should consider a vet tech position instead. Most can be completed in 2 years and you’ll get to work hands on in an animal hospital.

They are expensive. Like stated above, If you can’t afford it, becoming a Veterinary Technician is still rewarding.

University of Georgia’s School of Veterinary Medicine is $20,000 per year.

^Wow~ I didn’t know that. Vet schools can go up to 50,000+

IF you live in Georgia or have lived in Georgia a year prior to applying.
Also, if you’re from the Carolinas or Delaware, you can get it cheaper.
You’ll get your scholarships and everything else, of course. But UGA’s vet school doesn’t have too many scholarships.

I think it said once it was 16K for Georgia residents or something.
