I recently applied to a university, after submitting my CA, I noticed that I had accidentally misspelled the name of an organization I volunteered at. Silly, I know. How should I go about this, should I let the college know in an email, or simply ignore it?
@Thehopefulguy11 don’t worry about it. Either the college won’t look up the organization, or if it does decide to look it up, it’'ll realize it was a small typo and likely ignore it. There have been worse “typos” done by other people.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate the quick response. I’ve never had to actually write the name of the organization before, my friend’s mother is a manager and social worker there so I go there some days to help. The name is “Dorcas”, however I wrote “Dorcus” in my resume and activities section. I neglected to spell check my activities cause I figured they would understand small errors with the very limited character count for description.
It doesn’t change the overall context of your app-- it’s not a blatant lie, intended to make your app look stronger than it is.
Don’t sweat it.
Ignore it. many applications have a tiny imperfection here or there. If you don’t get it, it won’t be because of one small type.
Read this and chill: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/470497-clam-fart-oh-my-god-what-did-i-do-p1.html
Oh I have read that, Im not worried about it anymore, however I would like to point out that there really is no way to validate that…
Sorry to bring this up again, I figure if I send them an email explaining the typo and the email address of my supervisor, that would mitigate any doubt that I’m not just lying
Don’t annoy them w an email about something this minor.
The only kind of typo that matters is if you apply to Harvard and mispell it as Y-A-L-E.
Right and that’s exactly what was holding me back, this organization never had me log in or record my hours so if a college were to try and verify it, they would have to talk to the employees or volunteers who knew me there.
