Hi..if you want to make sure you don't get a roomate who smokes cigarettes do you need to choose choice housing. Is smoking even permitted in dorms?

Valeriew - Smoking is not permitted in Lehigh facilities and the dorms are all smoke free. However, it would be important for a student who does not want a room mate who smokes to sepecify that on their roomate survey. Non smokers would be matched up with other non-smokers.

Here is the Lehigh policy on smoking:

“Smoking will not be permitted in any University-owned or leased building or vehicle. No person shall smoke or burn tobacco or other products anywhere in Lehigh University buildings, or in University motor vehicles, including buses and vans. All University residence areas are smoke free.
Smoking is permitted on University grounds provided it occurs 15 feet from any building entrance and away from doorways, windows, and ventilation systems to prevent smoke from entering buildings and facilities.”

If I remember correctly there was a question on the survey about smoking and you can answer “I would be bothered by a roommate who smokes outside the dorm.”
