My son has over a 4.0 GPA in a very demanding program at a tough prep school. Over 2100 SAT, 32 ACT. Was accepted to Vandy, WL at UVA, and offered top scolarships at Texas schools. Please help me with your advice.

Any more details, such as intended major, preference as to student body size, city size, etc.? Is Vandy automatically out due to financial aid? It is hard to answer w/o knowing more.

Unless money is an issue, go with Vandy. Trinity and A&M are very different from each other. I am not a big SMU fan, except for certain fields of study.

Pre-med
science major
Biochem, cell biology
SMU- Dean's Scholarship-half tuition, honors program
Trinity-Murchison Scholarship-15,500 per year
Money is an issue

I would say Trinity... like MoWC, I don't think SMU is any great shakes outside of the Cox business program. And Trinity is a lot more "down to earth" for a private school, compared to SMU; I went to law school and worked with tons of TU grads, who all seemed to love their experience there. TAMU is so enormous that it would be tough to establish close relationships with profs for recommendations and research experience.

Thanks Art and Mom,

My son has worked like a dog, and I don't know what to tell him. This process has been much tougher than I imagined. We are going to Trinity to visit soon.
