I get so tired towards the end of the school day, and I can't focus at all in class. I drink coffee almost every morning, and I still have this issue.

Any snacks you recommend that'll help me stay awake and hopefully focused?

Thanks

That might actually be the problem. You’re crashing as you come off the caffeine.

Having a good lunch will be more effective that having extra snacks.

On days I don’t drink coffee, I’m also really tired. my lunch is usually a sandwich and some snacks.

I’m not an expert nutritionist, but I’ll try to help.

Coffee contains caffeine, and caffeine is a type of alkaloid. Caffeine is usually absorbed into the body quickly, and you may end up dehydrated if you aren’t careful about replacing water in your body. Being dehydrated could cause you to become tired.

Eating a balanced amount of lean proteins and complex carbohydrates can help you be awake for a longer period of time. Carbs gives you more energy than proteins, but carbs last shorter than proteins. Proteins gives you less energy than carbs, but proteins last longer than carbs. Some examples of carbs are fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Examples of proteins are meats, dairy, eggs, nuts, and beans. A good lunch has a balanced amount of proteins and carbs as well.

A good snack (not including main meals like breakfast, lunch, and dinner) that I like to have is a fruit rich in carbs and a boiled egg. However, you can have different kinds of carbs and proteins of balanced amounts. Usually the balanced amount of carbs and proteins contains more carbs than proteins.

last year, when i didn’t take a lunch, i was a zombie for half the school day, even if i ate a snack.

this year, with a lunch, i’m good to go all day… really lunch makes a difference

and maybe try tea? there really isn’t a crash, and it still wakes you up (or it usually wakes me up)

thanks. I don’t think most of those foods will last until the end of the school day, but i’ll try nuts and a better lunch.

bump

If anyone knows of any specific snacks, please let me know.

are you uh… gettin sleep?
