Okay...so my school has its back end stuck in the dark ages and my guidance counselor cannot submit my rec online (I'm not sure about the reason). One of my teachers has his own form of rec that cannot be submitted online because he would have to type it over and it would be in a different format. I'm confused. I thought Middlebury didn't want anything in paper / snail mail form, but at this rate my guidance rec, 1 teacher rec, and transcript are going by post. Will it be accepted or do I have to find another way? I am submitting the rest of the common app and supplement online.

Just call admissions and explain the problem and ask them. They won’t consider it against you.
We sent stuff snail-mail 2 years ago.

Pretty much any existing file format can be converted into a PDF (without losing formatting) and sent electronically. Perhaps he/she can simply convert to PDF?

I’ll talk with my guidance counselor about it tomorrow. I emailed admissions and they said “you are still able to have your teachers submit your teacher recommendations through the common application, if the school chooses to send in your information by post. You would only need their email address.” This I know. But I’m still unsure about what to do if my teachers don’t want to do online stuff. Grr. I’ll do some more thinking. arcadia- I’ll ask about that too.
