So, a letter from Penn came in the mail today...

and I'm in. :) Anybody else get a likely letter?

congrats! (10char)

*** theyre being sent out!!!!!!!!

wait hold on ur decision or a likely letter?

Wow NJBKitty you got one from Cornell and Penn?!

It was a likely letter. And yeah, Cornell gave me one too. :D

Which one are you going to choose, or are you still waiting on others? I applied to Cornell and Penn too, but I know I'd choose Penn in a heartbeat

Well Yale has always been my top choice, so I'm going to wait until the 31st to see what they tell me. But really, now I'm not so sure which one I'd choose anymore. It might all come down to FinAid...

what's a likely letter??
penn gives those? i only heard dartomouth does..ummm

i got one too :)
when i saw the letter, it was so thin that i was wondering why they would send a rejection so early! and then... well, there you go. i didn't know they did likely letters for non-athletes. what a pleasant surprise! i honestly felt the least confident in my penn app out of all 8 that i did...

NJBkitty we have the same schools. Yale was always my top choice, but after staying overnight at Penn in February I'm not really sure anymore. Of course, I'm not really that hopeful for Yale anyway since i got deferred SCEA, so I probably won't have to decide between them haha, I just really hope I get into Penn

That's awesome! Just curious, what does the letter say?

"Dear Anissa,

On behalf of the Office of Admissions, I commend you for your outstanding academic and personal achievements. A preliminary review of your credentials has been completed by the Selection Committee, and I am pleased to inform you that the Committee has designated you as a likely candidate for admission to the University of Pennsylvania class of 2013.

In recent years, approximately 98% of the applicants receiving a likely evaluation were ultimately admitted..."

and there's an invitation to this "multicultural scholars' preview" as well as campus visit days, further on in the letter.

Me too, actually. I hadn't even done the optional essay (pg 117), so I wasn't expecting much. But that made the surprise all the more pleasant I guess. :)

And mathlover, I got deferred SCEA too... :O Haha but honestly, Cornell is probably my second choice. I'm going to visit all my schools in April, however, and I'll make my final decision then.

You're both URMs?

i didn't do the optional essay either. it was the last app i submitted and i just couldn't be bothered. it's quite sad really. congrats on cornell by the way! i'm waiting on too many more, it's terrible.

^ haha same here, actually! I submitted my UPenn one the night before, and was too exhausted to write the essay. All my creative juices were drained by then.

And yeah, I'm an URM.

please feel free to laugh at me, as i'm not too familiar with the forums, but what does URM mean?

Do you send likely letters to International students???

Congratulations:)
