The school I was planning on taking my Subject tests in tomorrow got closed, along with a bunch of other testing facilities across the nation.

Now, a lot of the closed schools offer a new testing site to go to, but mine says:

"Make-up to be determined."

So what the hell am I supposed to do? December 5th is the deadline test date for most colleges, and if I don't take them tomorrow, are my chances 100% shot of even completing the requirements needed to apply (2 Subject tests).

And yes, I know I probably should not have procrastinated and delayed the inevitable until Dec. 5th, but damn it, that's who I am.

If the schools got canceled due to weather etc, then the colleges will be lenient; it’s not your fault at all. I personally would call/e-mail (calling is better seeing you get the answer right away) and make sure they know that you will be taking the test later in December. Well, it’s not as if they get the results until next month anyways so I doubt they will mind especially when the testing site got canceled.

Also, you need to keep checking and follow up on that make up site.

If you’re wondering why all of these Texas schools are shutting down, it’s because it snowed. But it only snowed for about an hour (hardly an inch) where my testing center is, so why would they shut it down? Tomorrow is supposed to be a gorgeous day with no signs of rain/snow/sleet.

As you can see, almost all of the Texas schools are shut down and only 2 of them have different centers in which to take the test.

The email they sent me specifically told me not to show up, but I think I will anyway. I have a feeling that tomorrow morning they are going to re-update the site saying that all testing facilities are perfectly fine to go to and ready to administer the tests.

The closings are determined by the school system. If your county and school system says, “everything canceled,” then that goes no matter what the weather will be like. For us, a couple of days ago, the school got canceled for the second day but the sun was out and all but they didn’t “reopen” the schools. I think doing that (especially in the morning) will definitely cause troubles and complaints especially when it’s so crucial that some students take the December test (unless CollegeBoard always administers a Plan B test later in the month? But what would happen to the curve then? I guess like AP exams make up, the curve will be really low—which will be bad).

I am kind of hoping my school closes but at the same time, I want to get it over with and not have to worry about changes in curves and missing deadlines.

“(unless CollegeBoard always administers a Plan B test later in the month? But what would happen to the curve then? I guess like AP exams make up, the curve will be really low—which will be bad).”

Could you elaborate on this? Why would the curves change if they administer the test on a later date? Is it because they have less time to analyze the results?
