So all freshmen have to move in by August 22nd right?

It seems like a very early move in day, especially since the classes don't start till August 28th. What do we do during the 6 days? Especially like that first weekend?

Or is it that August 22nd is the day the dorms are open and I can move in whenever I want to before August 28th?

And um I asked this before but just for clarification, is there someway I can know what a townhouse consists of? Like the size of the bed (for like what size sheets to buy, etc.)?

Better yet, is there some sort of open house I could see when I visit next week?

we move in early as that week is our orientation.

Orientation is between August 22nd and the next Wednesday, August 27th.

Then Welcome Weekend is August 27th through the 31st.

And all beds are Twin extra long.

You should move in on the 22nd. There are many activities planned for freshman including advisor meetings, course registration, summer reading panel and many social events. Every day of orientation is packed with events and you shouldn't miss it.

Technically...the dorms aren't open to visitors during the summer. But...when I was walking around campus over the summer before I entered, I happened to run into the RHD of the Transfer Center and he gave me a tour.

For many people, orientation is one of the most exciting weeks of college. You will be meeting new people and getting adjusted to your surroundings, and should move in on the 22nd to take full advantage of what Cornell has to offer you. They say that the beds are extra long, but I have not had a problem fitting regular twin-sized sheets, which I think are more common than the extra longs.

you will be assigned a move-in time...things will be very hectic that day, but it you have to do that :)

but theres a plus side...all of the OLs will be carryign everything for you on move-in day. its amazing

here is the orientation booklet for this year to give you a better glimpse of what we'll be doing for the duration of the six days

hope that helps!

Thanks it does.

are returning students, ones that already attend Cornell, be moving in the same day first-years and transfers are?

No...Cornell asks that returning students wait to move in until the the day after 1st year move in.

Are there people to help out returning students as they move into West Campus on the 23rd?

^^I don't think so

No... not for returning students. The "returning" students are the ones that are volunteering to help the "first-years".
