Princeton has always been my dream school. I'd attend it over Harvard, Yale, or Stanford without question. However, Stanford's early admission decision has freaked me out a bit. I was rejected there and now have lost most confidence in my chances to HYP (I was also deferred from Yale). Anyone in a similar situation?

I’m in the exact same boat, Tristan101. I got into USC, but got deferred by Y, WL’d by WashU, and now rejected by S. Good luck on April 1, everyone.

Well, it seems that Stanford does like the less stiff, academic types in that it loves people who are unique. Having great stats, val, presidencies, and etc may get you farther at HYP than at S. However, if you are a radio DJ, are extremely passionate about Japanese Calliography, or spend your nights painting, you may do better at stanford. Its a little hard to exactly describe the differences…but hopefully that will suffice.

No your right, they went for high scores. However, in the past, Stanford has admitted alot more kids with sub 2200 SATs who had something else really interesting going for them. In my opinion, those types of people (if unhooked) are less likely to get into HYP. However, both types of schools are equally selective, just selective in different ways.

thanks for the clarification, rtgrove ; it’s what i thought and if it is true, i guess i got what i deserved, since i’m clearly more of the academic-type. i’m just hoping something will pull through in the next week…
