So...any Princeton hopefuls get crushed by Stanford?

Hey guys,

Princeton has always been my dream school. I'd attend it over Harvard, Yale, or Stanford without question. However, Stanford's early admission decision has freaked me out a bit. I was rejected there and now have lost most confidence in my chances to HYP (I was also deferred from Yale). Anyone in a similar situation?

Hey RTgrove123… i’m in the same position except i was rejected yale scea due to a horrific interview and rejected stanford rd…

oh gosh… stanford crushed me too late last yr… i still doubt that i would get in to HYP but we’ll see…

hey there, same with me. rejected from stanford today.

great. so yale ea deferral, wash u waitlist, stanford rejection.

am i going to get into any private schools this year? :(

Take comfort in the fact that Stanford’s admission practices are quite distinct from those of Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.

Haha thanks Mifune…btw CONGRATS on your stanford acceptance. Though, I wasnt surprised as you are absolutely brilliant.

That’s questionable, but thank you! :)

I’m in the exact same boat, Tristan101. I got into USC, but got deferred by Y, WL’d by WashU, and now rejected by S. Good luck on April 1, everyone.

ahh same here! deferred SCEA from yale, and WL’d by stanford :/

if anything, it gives me comfort to know that we’re all in this together :]

as of now, i don’t even know what i did wrong, if anything, or if admissions really was just that tough this year. :[

congrats mifune! can anyone refresh for me how exactly is stanford’s process different from HYP?

Well, it seems that Stanford does like the less stiff, academic types in that it loves people who are unique. Having great stats, val, presidencies, and etc may get you farther at HYP than at S. However, if you are a radio DJ, are extremely passionate about Japanese Calliography, or spend your nights painting, you may do better at stanford. Its a little hard to exactly describe the differences…but hopefully that will suffice.

RT - It sure looks like Stanford went for the high scorers who ALSO had the Japanese-DJ thing going. It’s a tough year, for sure.

go harvard…
screw stanford :p

Hopefully high scores count a little more at Princeton… not to sound superficial or anything.

tokdoc-

No your right, they went for high scores. However, in the past, Stanford has admitted alot more kids with sub 2200 SATs who had something else really interesting going for them. In my opinion, those types of people (if unhooked) are less likely to get into HYP. However, both types of schools are equally selective, just selective in different ways.

thanks for the clarification, rtgrove  ; it’s what i thought and if it is true, i guess i got what i deserved, since i’m clearly more of the academic-type. i’m just hoping something will pull through in the next week…

I’m in the same position as you Caramel2222 except I have MIT and UChicago rejections to add to my horrendous list…

I’m starting to loose faith…really fast

got waitlisted to Stanford. but was accepted to Princeton through QuestBridge.
At least I didn’t get rejected. =]

Rejected stanford. No confidence lft, but hey thats a goos thing! It can only het better;)
