So confused - international student - about CA and reccomendation letters

Im really confused, how am I supposed to send the reccomendation letters? some colleges use the common application, others dont, if I use the common application do teachers HAVE to submit the letters via email? or can it be by mail even if i used the common application?

basically my teacher will need to also print the letter and make copies for every letter that I need for colleges that dont use the common application?

do this copies need the teachers seal? does he have to send them even thought i dont think he would considering im an international student and that would be an issue. so can i send it with my transcripts?

what if if im not 100% sure yet about which college im gonna apply to or if I might add another college to my college list?

I really need the reccomendation letters soon because my teachers are leaving school for vacations and it would be too late to ask them after.

So what the hell am I supposed to do?

Obviously the simplest way would be for them to give me a copy of the letter so I can make lots of more copies in case I apply to more or other colleges but I would have to seal the envelopes myself. Can I do this though? Considering Im international? I know Im not supposed to look at the reccomendation letter but this is a special cirmunstance.

jeez im goin nuts.

please i need some advice desperately

plz help im desperate and need a reply soon i cant find an answer anywhere

i dont have access to counselor guidance for help i gotta do this all on my own and its quite overwhelming

The common app recommendation cannot be submitted via email but rather needs to be uploaded to the common app website, and the process for that is a little complicated… On the other hand, you can always have the recommendations physically mailed to the admissions office, the addresses for which can be found on the individual college’s own website.

Make sure to read over carefully the instructions, which can be found here. A lot of the details, such as how to properly submit recs, are important.

Yes, and he/she can do that for the common app schools as well if the person’s not submitting it online. Also, be aware that there’s an additional evaluation form on the common app that he needs to fill out along with a written recommendation letter. See the link provided above.

There are usually also additional teacher evaluation forms required by individual colleges not associated with the common app. Be sure to check the requirements of each school.

Here in the U.S. the recommendation letters are printed on the school’s official letterhead and the transcript is sent directly by the high school. The transcript must be “official”, not photocopies.

You should also provide your teacher with an addressed envelope, together with the right amount of stamps, if you’re asking him to mail out the recommendations.

If you decide to apply to additional colleges, you’ll have to ask your teacher to send out additional recs, one for each college. (That is if he’s mailing in the letters instead of uploading the recommendation online for the common app schools.)

Yes, do that. Simply don’t waive your right to view the recommendations and then you can send them out yourself.

Hope that helped. Good luck with everything :)!

Get your teachers to fill out the commonapp forms AND to write a seperate rec with your school logo and official stamp. You can therefore use this rec for schools that do not use commonapp.Get your transcript stamped by your school and then make CERTIFIED copies of the transcript. If your documents are all official and certified in this way you can send them yourself. Its not really practical to ask your teachers to mail in recs.
