Hey guys,
Wow, so I'm so confused about the bschools i want to apply to this fall. I'm considering finance as my concentration.

The schools I'm considering applying to are
Upenn
NYU stern
UT austin(I live in texas, so this works out really well)
Carnegie Mellon
Georgetown
USC

The only three I know for sure are UT, NYU and Upenn.

My biggest question is, is it worth it to go to a school such as USC, or CM, or Georgetown vs. UT, which is cheaper, closer, and has a better business school than all the above three?

Can you recommend any other schools that are better than UT, recruitment and prestige wise for an undergrad business school? UT is pretty well known right by recruiters even if you arent in their business honors program? I know i definitely dont want umich, berkley, or MIT but are any others than you can recommend?

McCombs without honors is also great, I've seen kids go off to investment banking (just an example of a hard job to get) just from that the only reason I was mentioning the business honors program was that you were mentioning wharton.

do you have any idea of what your career goals are right now? I know you're interested in finance but any idea on what direction you'd like to go in with finance?

I go to UT so if you have any questions specficially related to UT feel free to ask

dcfca would it be really hard to transfer to BHP from Mccombs if I take these classes first semester?
MIS 301, Math 408D, PSY 301 (stupid credit), CMS 306M, and GOV 310L

I also have about 5-6 classes with a guareented A from AP/IB classes.

Edit: And I will be majoring in Finance on track for ibanking.

first of all, your AP scores aren't going to matter, UT will only look at your UT GPA when it comes to BHP admissions.

As for the courses you picked, for Psy 301 -- try to register with Salinas, really easy A, you can buy a course packet that has the notes for the whole year and never show up.

For Gov 310L, try to take it with McDaniel -- every other Gov professor at UT is hard as hell. There's one that does the course notes that you can purchase and if you do that you wont have to come to class either but it will be a massive amount of memorization. McDaniel requires you to come every day (he has this quiz policy that checks attendence) but he gave us about 5 extra credit points for our final grade in the end.

CMS306M and M408D are very tough. If you're a math whiz though you should be okay for 408D. CMS 306M is always hard though, that's what I hear anyway. You'll probably have to work the most for those two courses.

To get into BHP you really need to strive to make all A's (1 or 2 B's AT MOST), this is why i'm stressing certain professors for you to take.

Also you'll want to be active on campus, so try to get into that freshmen business club, join the finance club, etc.
