Thanks For The Info!!!!! Helped A Lot!

are the workshops actually useful? i didn't go to any either..

i remember i wanted to go to the time management workshop but i overslept.

^LOL, oh the irony.

so we just got back from carpe noctum... and our group BAILED OUT on like the third picture. haha...

what a day... i'm SO tired, but it was fun!

and some of the workshops are useful, depends on your needs and what you want/need to know.

so what we did the THIRD and LAST day :)

7-9am breakfast served at covel

at 9 am SHARP the enrollment begins... it's kinda hectic cuz you meet in your counselor's room at 8:45, make last minute changes if necessary, etc., and since there's two computers and 7+ people, we draw numbers on who gets to go first. we had 9 people in our group and i got 9 lol. everyone RUSHES to sign up at 9:00 sharp, i dont even know why since we were the first session anyway. i got all the classes i wanted... and just a couple hours ago was still dropping adding some lol. so yeah

after that from 10:30 - 12:30 we had a presentation at broad hall. it was first serious and about rape and stuff... but then it got funny when we talked about alcohol and sex. there are skits preformed, stories read, its REALLY INTERESTING. kinda like the other presentations from the past few days :) seriously the sex ed is HILARIOUS... its so interactive, visual, and openminded... most i've ever heard about sex/condoms/protection/relationships in my life. the audience was participating, voluntarily called on to give opinions, go up and perform. we even learned about sex techniques and stuff.... very weird but beneficial and "fun" so yeah

from 12:30 to 4:30, we eat lunch and go on a campus tour with our orientation counselors. DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS just because you have already been on a campus tour. this one is REALLY different -- they give out hints and clues about ucla and its sooo fun! a lot of stories, traditions that only ucla students are supposed to know (that regular campus tours don't tell you) and it happens only at orientation! DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS!!!!! you also get a 20% discount coupon for the ucla store! valid through october twentysomething.

during the tour we have a couple activities, and at the end we fill out a survey on our experience, get some gifts, hug our counselors, sign stuff, say good bye, it was so sad...no one wanted to leave! i honestly had a GREAT time and met a lot of people. also the groups that you are in with your OCs, are based on major, so everyone in your group is the same major. really helps with the connections and similarities.

orientation was AWESOME and i'm glad i went to it. it was SO WORTH IT, and i didn't want it to end!!! im gunna miss everyone and my OC =( seriously you make a lot of connections and stuff throughout the three days and all the activities available. i went knowing NOT ONE PERSON and now i know 40+ people. i even became facebook friends with some!

you guys are gunna LOVEEEE IT! :)

haha that sounds fantabulous! i can't wait for orientation! thanks Jeyday for the updates!

no problem!

oh forgot to say...
and someone said something earlier about WALL-IT on the second day, it's actually the third day. it's sooo funny, you'll find out what that is -- its during the campus tours. oh and also during the campus tours, you kinda play games with the other OC groups going around. when you see another group you're supposed to do this weird thing where you put your fingers around your eyes and shout something, and if they were LOOKING at you while you were doing it, one of the group members has to get down onto the floor and do this weird dance. and when you see a group coming, AVOID looking at them so they won't do the same to you. the OCs make it really fun -- they let you know when a groups coming and when to go and what to do when! haha its fun!

LOL just wait til you start school... are your hopes and dreams shattered!

when does orientation end on the third day??? do most people leave straight after signing up for classes??

they should start calling wall-it, wall-e. i just think that'd be funny :)

wow this thread brings back memories. sounds like yours was more fun, no heat waves, no really awkward sex ed, no broken inverted fountain. yah... enjoy it while it lasts, orientation and the whole first quarter is a whirlwind.

your checkout time depends on your OC and when the tour/activities/good bye stuff ends. mine ended around 5:30 and by the time i went up to my room, packed my stuff, and checked out it was around 6:30.

mme-lin, i don't want my dreams shattered! :(

liyana, yes i enjoyed it and i hope first quarter goes just as well... not expecting any fun stuff but at least my classes/profs work out in my favor.

..........

whoa whoa whoa. what's wall-it? and why did the parents get these cute bags, and my parents didn't?! :(

wall it, when someone passes by a hallway and we have to move to a wall so they can get through? I think that was the general idea...

oh. what? you guys got excited about wall-it? ugh. eager little freshman.

haha

but yeah the inverted fountain was off for us so they bruintized us with water bottles :P

wall-it was funny cuz people kept saying and doing it even when no one passed by and when we were outside and there were no walls.

kutibah, even though the inverted fountain was off, we bent over and dipped our hands in the water, but the water bottle thing is funny lol

haha ya i dipped my hands in the water too until the OC advised us to stop (it was really dirty lol)

lmao that sucks it was off... if someone give you 20 bucks if you touch it again would you do it? lol

"LOL just wait til you start school... are your hopes and dreams shattered!"

HAHA mme-lin, ^that is very much the truth :)
