I went to session 103, and my tour ended fairly early. I was ready to leave at 5:30pm. Groups were returning until 6:00pm or so. On the safe side, I would tell your parents to pick you up at 6:00pm. If anything, you can wait in the plaza with everyone else until then. I was waiting for my friend until 6:45pm, and there were still people hanging out there!

eh3322: Go to the orientation website and look for the link to Family Orientation. There is lots of info there for parents. I think parents/family check in at 7:30 am in the Sunset Plaza area. That's the same area students check in on the first day. We just attended session 103 and we checked in at 7:30 and were all done by 6:00pm.

Thank you, kimx and Inquiringmind2. I guess I'll tell my parents to come at 6:00. Where should my parents and I meet so that they can take me home?

Have them meet you in the Sunset Plaza area. It will be the same place that buth you and them will register/sign in. Everyone meets there so it's easy to figure out. It's where you end your day and where they will finish as well.

If your parents aren't going to the family orientation, then you can also be picked up at Rieber Plaza because you will have to go back to your counselor's room there and get your luggage. There is a drop off and pick up area in the plaza as well.

As far as directions are concerned... follow the ones on the orientation website, but keep on driving down the road past the parking lot, past Hedrick, and you will see Rieber on your left hand side.

I stayed in Saxon Suites for orientation, where I first encountered eight spiders in the shower.

How'd you like Saxon Suites if you take out the spiders from the equation?

Hmm, Saxon is pretty spacious. There's like a living room and two bedrooms, separated by room A and room B. The toilet and shower are both on opposite sides. It seems as if no one has lived there for quite a while because the spiders are behind the bunk beds and near the tables too. It also seems kind of hard to socialize at Saxon though because of the individual suites and because it's not like the halls/plazas where you can just meet people outside of your room.

Ye gods, I hate spiders. Yeah, I figured it'd be less social. Somehow I ended up with Saxon for housing this year. Oh well.

what time do we actually have to arrive at orientation on the first day? 8 am is so early.. and im always late. i already have my bruin card too.

as early as you can be, waking up 1 day isn't gonna kill you :) especially since they give you like 3 super long surveys that you have to do... also count in the LA traffic, I live in the inland empire and it took us 2 hours to get there... on none traffic day it takes 40 min...

You'll be waking up early all 3 days of Orientation cause they plan your day out so early >_<

I recommend 7:45 because you have to check in to your room and then fill out a monster survey and check in to orientation. If you still need you Bruin card, do that before filling out the survey or checking into orientation, because you want to avoid the long line that will form after 8. You have breakfast from 7-9 the second and third days, so you have some flexibility but there won't be any major sleeping-in while you're there. It's soooo fun, though, so enjoy it! :D

sorry if this question was already answered.....

for orientation, do we sleep in the dorms we're actually going to be in during the school year? or are we put into random dorms?

no. youll be in the two same dorms -- not your regulr yr one

If you're in a res hall this fall, don't get too comfy in your orientation dorm. ;)

haha yeah i am going to be in hedrick hall

which dorms are for orientation?

rieber terrace and saxon

I thought it was Vista and Terrace

For my week it was Rieber Terrace and Vista.
