isn't plane the easiest for ppl in the bay area? that's what i plan to do and then i'll take the shuttle down to campus i think. OR if i have time, i'd take the train to LA and somehow get to SD. i heard it's beautiful and worth the $100 extra than plan. you get to see the ocean the whole time so i hear=D

UCLAri - you're dragging a uhaul!?! How big of a uhaul? I'm amazed at this.

I hate how airline tickets from SFO or SJC to LAX is like 68, but to San Diego it's 200ish. AHHH.

fly!

it's like 60 bucks one way on southwest. from the bay area, anyway.

I live in LA and will rely on amtrak...anyone in a similar situation?

I'm going to be doing a mix of driving and taking the Amtrak. I live in Los Angeles county, so it's only an 80-90 minute drive most days with fair traffic, so it's not too bad. Sometimes, however, I won't feel like driving and will just take the train back home or to visit friends in UCLA / UCI.

Definitely by plane cuz i live overseas =D

im gonna use amtrak too.

Thought I’d revitalize this thread. I’m curious about rail travel to UCSD.

For students coming from Central California, it sounds like Amtrak to Oceanside, then the bus is the best/fastest way to UCSD.

comments?

coquimom,

That’s about right. The bus from Oceanside was free in my days, and also pretty fast.

Wooo just made plans to visit UCSD on admit day gonna spend the weekend with a friend of mine, anyways i plan on going from central cali to solano beach station, pretty excited to talk to my friend’s roommates because they have my major!

I live right by Newport Beach, so it isn’t that far of a drive…maybe 45minutes? I plan on driving and keeping my car on campus!

I’m flying down (it’s a 10 hour drive otherwise…) and I won’t have my car Freshman year. I like how the original posters have all graduated (unless they’re super seniors) and now we’re reviving this thread :p

Hahaha that’s hilarious. Lets revive it bahaha

by car and train. :)

Flying down there for visits home and breaks.
My parents are lugging all my stuff and me by car to move in.

I wish I didn’t live 10 hours away either :(
