Yeah -- some people read one syllable at a time, some one word at a time, some one sentence, some one paragraph... some read even more at a time, presumably.

I probably read in phrases or sentences, depending on the material.

700-750. You don't really need to read every word to understand it. For instance, on the speech, you don't need to dwell on the founding fathers. Just read it and go on. I did the test three times, and each time, I read words that I had skipped before. But that didn't change the meaning of the passage at all. There were no sudden revelations of things I missed the first time.

There's one person I've heard of that can read 10,000wpm I think there's someone that can read like 30,000wpm. (His brain hemispheres were separated and he can read 1 page like other read a sentence with each eye!)

Yeah, I read in paragraphs. I dunno, I read really weird. I go paragraph by paragraph, generally, and my eyes kind of skip around the paragraph until I understand what's happening, and then I move on. It's bizarre, but I always know what's going on. I always scored really high on reading comprehension tests. Every once in a while I'll be like, "Wait, what?" and have to go back and reread something, but that's really rare.

600-650. Too dry a passage. And my eyes are tired.

50~100 Wpm.

Yeah but how do you think that fast

That's not learned. :)

All speed reading programs claim that nearly anyone can learn to read into the thousands of wpm. What always got me was that in order to read that fast, you must be able to think that fast.

300-350...but I think I skimmed sort of. :( I can be a fast reader when need be, but most of the time I take it slow...

250-300 WPM, leisurely.

I start out reading word by word, and as time goes, I find myself subconsciously reading in larger and larger chunks.

350-400. I thought I read more slowly than that, actually.

Also 350-400.
