I am curious to hear people's impressions now that they experienced Cornell Days. If you have any comments or questions I would be happy to help.

The food was awesome, but overall it was organized pretty poorly. My host (who didn't even sign up to host) ended up taking three of us.

And it was unseasonably warm...booo....

Either way, it was fun.

wow..three of you?
how much time should i plan on going for?

We enjoyed Cornell Days although my son did not spend the night. It was our 3rd visit and by far the best. We felt is was organized and everyone was very friendly. When we ate lunch students came up to talk with us. Definately check in to your accepting college. We spent about 30 minutes there talking with students in similar programs. Do the dorm tour...70 minutes but worth it! Try food in several locations...best food on a college campus that we've eaten.

For us Cornell has always seemed big and impersonal. There was a totally different feeling that came with knowing which college you are in and talking with students. We saw many interactions with our tour guides and that was different from the past. My son said it went way up the list after this visit!

Enjoy your time there!

Cornell Days was amazing. I drove up with a friend from my school who was also accepted on Friday. We stayed at Sigma Pi and it was really nice. They had a BBQ Friday afternoon and then after that we went to a pretty good party at Theta Ki. Saturday we went to the Havard/Cornell lax game and Cornell won. That night a few of the brothers and us went out to dinner in ithaca and the rest of the night we just chilled at the house.

my host sucked, majorly

there were 5 of us in the townhouse

i slept on a couch with my legs on a chair

at least i talked some girl out of going to wellesly and into going to cornell

oh, and i caught a cold

but the food was good

and i still love cornell

aww i'm sorry! feel better!!:)

I had a great time at Cornell Days. I drove up in the morning and got to Cornell around noon. I wandered around campus and took some tours until I had to go back and meet my host, who didn't actually show up until an hour later or so. His roomate's friend took us up to the townhouses where we were staying. The weather was fantastic, so there were lots of people out in the townhouse quads just talking and playing frisbee. Our host showed up eventually, but he was really flaky and kept disappearing. He was a cool guy though. We were planning on going to a frat party but ended up just chilling in the townhouses and playing beer pong. I talked to a lot of the people in the townhouses and got a pretty good perspective of what it's like at Cornell, at least from a freshman's perspective. I ended up staying up until 4AM and had to sleep on a recliner that was partially collapsed on one side. Today in the morning I checked out Collegetown and the Ithaca commons before I left.

How often do hosts leave (or bring) their guests to a party? (alcohol.)
In my town, we don't party or drink, and I don't want to feel out of place because I won't at Cornell Days.

They're not supposed to at all.

They tell you in the beginning that you're not allowed to drink or even enter a fraternity house. However, the cool hosts will bring people to the parties. If your host wants to bring you to a party you can just say you're not comfortable with it, i'm sure there will be other stuff to do. what day(s) are you visiting jerew

I will be there on Thursday, overnight on campus Friday, and then leave Sunday afternoon. I will definetly have a lot of time to check things out!

Cornell Days made the decision for my son... Good Luck class of '09!

I was at Cornell Days on Friday. I drove six hours the day before to get there and I felt it was worth it. Aside from taking some tours, I sat in on a class (Thermodynamics in the Engineering School) and talked to the teacher, who was a really nice guy. I also watched some engineers play wiffleball. It was really nice out. For the overnight, I got lucky. I was the only prefrosh assigned to my host (who was awesome by the way). I'm thankful I wasn't one of the fourteen guys assigned to a townhouse. I got to sleep in Court (which rocks). My host was also in the engineering school, and his roomate had the same major as me (Mech E). As for that night, I'm still a little hazy. But it was great fun all the same.

no kidding, today, 3 of the guy hosts (townhouses!) didn't so up, and i had to pull hosts literally out of thin air (on west!) to accommodate the 7 guys left over. soooo tiring! i just got home since being at robert purcell for cornell days at 7am today.

does this usually happen for guys? or both guys and girls? cuz i've heard that there are less guy hosts available in the first place.
