So...how was school, dear children?

Mine was...better than expected

No school today or yesterday thanks to hurricane Isaac

Lucky…

But considering its a hurricane…perhaps not

School start Thursday September 6th in NYC. I can’t wait. :):):)

Eh, I’m happy we’re going back tomorrow and that all of the storm is gone. Having Monday was great because I wanted an extra day. But today felt like a waste because it wasn’t even stormy (they closed because the of flooding). Still, 8 schools in the county are closed for tomorrow because they were damaged in the storm.

We only got the outer bands and it was only a TS. The damage was pretty bad considering.

Starting school tomorrow. The last first day of high school. Senior year should be pretty fun…at least after college apps are done with.

Meh…it was just like the other past 3 or 4 weeks…

Easy. All my classes are easy, but they’re hard classes according to counselors.

School starts Sept. 6 NYC!!! :D

My college course was interesting though.

I started last week Thursday so far so good except my 2 best friends and I are growing apart, atleast this is my last yr.

Sent from my SPH-M910 using CC

Today was my 5th day, aka the first day of blocking. Today, I had periods 1, 2, 4, and 5 for 80 minutes at a time. I’ll just break it down by class.

1 - Honors English 10 - Teacher talks the ENTIRE period. I hate when teachers do that.

2 - Honors U.S. History - We had an interesting group assignment on Colonial Slavery. It was pretty interesting. We were then assigned an essay (our fourth one of the year!) that is due on Friday. The topic is the historical economy of my city (Anchorage, Alaska).

Lunch - I met up with the other three co-leaders of Partners Club, and we planned out our club’s year today.

4 - Chemistry - We set stuff on FIRE today! Also, we watched a video about basic lab safety that was awful. The funniest part was when they used a mannequin to demonstrate stop, drop, and roll (they had trouble making the mannequin roll).

5 - AP Bio - We set up a plant lab (yuck), and we took an essay quiz on water. Somehow, I got 12/12. I was excited until I figured out it was a practice test. The real test on Chapter 3 is Friday.

Best part is, I only have pre-calc homework today! Yay!

School start September 4th on Long Island! I’m excited but…I have a ton of summer work I have to get through :frowning: Plus I have done 0 college stuff, beyond deciding my list.

School started 2 weeks ago for me. It hasn’t been too overwhelming so far, but then again, it IS only the second week… Plus last year (freshman), I had more honors classes, as I doubled up in math, so I’m not expecting sophomore year to be killer…

Honors English: First thing every morning. My teacher says the word “scholarly” way too much, along with the phrase “craft a superb paragraph…” As if he would want us to “craft” an average paragraph lol.

Honors Western Civ: Second thing in the morning 4 days a week. Teacher LECTURES for the ENTIRE period!!! He’s kind of a socially awkward person who laughs at his own jokes and the like, but he’s not THAT boring…yet. But then again, it IS history, so…

Spanish 2: Same teacher as last year. She demands that we speak Spanish in class constantly, which is hard to do b/c we know so little Spanish apart from “puedo” and “debo” to ask questions. This is probably my least favorite class because it moves way too slowly. I swear, I find myself nodding off every day in Spanish.

Theology: This is actually really interesting and thought-provoking. My teacher’s super religious and preachy though, so to keep myself engaged in class, I like to play devil’s advocate in my head.

Honors Chemistry: I love this class, but then again, I am a prospective STEM major, so go figure. My teacher loves me, though, so that’s definitely a plus. :)

Band: I also love this class! I expected to hate it, b/c I took band (for a month) last year and absolutely could NOT stand it, but this year is a lot better. We have a new band teacher, and he’s much more organized and on-task than the old one. We get stuff done in class, but at the same time, he’s really chill and not super uptight or anything.

Honors Precalculus: I am a math geek, so I should love this class, right? Kind of. I’ve already learned almost all of what my teacher’s going through, b/c I self-studied precalc over the summer, so I’m bored 90% of the time in this class. Hopefully that will change later in the year. As for my teacher, I’d been trying to ask him something about a test for a few days, and he told me that he’d try to get it and talk to me, but that he was “really busy” and needs to find some time when he’s free. This happened early last week, and finally he said he could talk to me Friday after school. BUT, I got to his classroom after school, and he had a MEETING that he had to go to, so he couldn’t talk to me. Maybe it’s just me getting overly annoyed about this, but I’d been asking him for a week, and he SPECIFICALLY told me Friday, and then he just didn’t show up!!! I mean, he’s a teacher, but he doesn’t have time to help his students…that doesn’t really work… anyways…sorry, really had to get that off my chest /endofrant.

TL;DR School’s going well.

i feel like 1st quarter should be over.

I’m a sophomore, but I still feel like a freshman.

On one hand, WOO senior year!
On the other, OH GODDDDDD SENIOR YEAR!!!1!1!!!11!!!

1° AP Calculus: Easier than expected, but that’s probably because it’s mostly review. I have a good feeling about this class, though.
2° TA/Peer Tutor period: Haven’t done much so far, stapled some papers, helped some students, but mostly just get some homework done. (But I’m still technically in Italian, but that’s getting worked out  )
3° AP Gov: Really interesting. Good classmates, and there’s a class website/forum so that’s really helpful.
4° Free period (aka AP Lunch): Satisfying. Get my homework done and hang with a friend this period.
5° AP Physics: Was a little scared at first that I was just going to flip out and not understand anything, but I feel more confident now. Lots of helpful classmates.
6° Orchestra: Oh, you silly freshmen…

Aaaaand tomorrow night we have Chapter 2 in Junior College English 1B…should be good… and three hours long. Have to read Theogony tonight and continue with the Odyssey.

You newyorkers are lucky, I had school on Aug. 27th and I could really have used the extra 10 days

Failed a test, found out I missed National Merit by one point…

But, in all seriousness, everything’s been going swimmingly!

11 more derivative. 11 more derivates then I can sleep :/

turning in my forms tomorrow

zzzz this last week of waiting is a killer.
