I was looking on Rice's dining services, and I saw that for breakfast at the West Colleges yesterday, the chiefs were apparently serving fish taco...There also seems to be a limited amount of vegetarian options on certain days.

Can someone give me their honest opinion on the food available at Rice? And as a vegetarian, would I still be able to eat well?

What they post online is definitely not the full menu.

The food(especially at West Servery) is top-notch when it comes to college food. They usually have about 2 main vegetarian dishes for every meal. There is also a pasta station that always has vegetarian pasta/rice/cous cous. For every meal they have a very good salad bar(many different types of lettuce/pasta salad/hummus/eggs etc), soup of the day, fruit, and sandwich station. They also have Silk if you need that option. I have many vegetarian friends and they seem happy with the selection.

Also every wednesday for dinner, Chef Rogers makes the BEST cinnamon rolls and every tuesday he makes homemade pita bread with fresh humus and feta.

East Servery on the other side of campus is also opening up next semester – it’s supposed to have awesome food, possibly more awesome than that of West Servery (crepery ftw!)

Rice food is delicious, but there’s somewhat of an imbalance between serveries. South and Sid Rich suck, but North and West are good. North is better than West, imo. The only fault of the serveries is that very occasionally they serve horrible fake chinese food. Other than that, top notch. You’ll find dozens of foods you’ve never even heard of before.
