So how's the year going?

We're about 1/4 done with the school year, which is crazy because it feels like school just got back. I was wondering how everyone was doing with the new (although not so new) school year. Any thoughts, disappointments, unexpected opinions, or surprises? A lot of times as students we have the tendency to make expectations about how our academic year is going to go. First quarter is always pretty insane for that reason. New classes and people and ideas; it's pretty overwhelming.

Thoughts: It’s overall been a good year, if I have to give it a grade so far it would be a B. I got 2 teachers that I don’t like to associate with, but meh…happens. It’s WAY better than last year though, freshman year still beats it however so far. Senior year will probably be my best year in HS. I have way more time for myself and academics finally since I fixed my problems and dropped 0 period & my sport.
Disappointment: 2 of my teachers, pretty much it. Life is more dull now though however since I’m mostly focusing on academics for this year.
Unexpected Opinion: I thought Junior year would be worse, but it turned out to be better since I actually chose the classes that I wanted to take.
Surprises: None, really. I did get the same teacher I had in APWH now for APUSH. -w-

I didn’t think that Sophomore year was going to be hard as it ended up being. However, I ended up with really good grades this quarter after going completely psycho
disappointments: some of my teachers (especially my chemistry teacher). she doesnt teach she just sits at her desk and pets her wig while grading papers. not only that, we havent even gotten to the history of the atom and it is already the 2nd quarter!!! I can’t do it anymore.

Senior years been alright so far…Senioritis hasn’t kicked in, although now that I’ve gotten college apps in it may. AP classes are kicking my butt. Especially AP Lit, we do daily journals that are 2-3 pgs, it’s painful. And my school also runs this SUPA (Syracuse) Public Affairs course which is the biggest time-consumer. My teacher, after school one day, said “You think doing the work is bad? I have to grade all of it!” Obviously it’s mutual lol. On top of the 4 AP’s and SUPA, hockey takes the rest of my time up. About 20 hrs a week on the ice is rough…

Overall, I’d say no surprises, although maybe a bit overwhelming that senior year is finally here. Hopefully it doesn’t go too fast.

It’s my first year in high school (freshman here) and its been pretty good. A LOT more work and a lot more studying (especially in AP BIO, which is challenging, and AP HG, which is just time-consuming) but I’ve been able to handle it pretty well and my grades are really good. I’m really happy with high school so far since I’m on the cross country team (running varisty!) and involved in a few clubs. Overall, it’s been pretty good so far :]

My year has been pretty good. Some unexpected things happened. There was a teacher that I was supposed to have for AP Computer Science, AP Calculus AB, and DE Cisco Networking, but she hasn’t been at school because of personal reasons. That ended up messing up my schedule, which was stressful. Other than that, my biggest concern is that I’m getting a B in APUSH this quarter because I got a 70 on the quarter exam. On the whole though, I think that Junior year is going pretty well.

HOLY CRAP

AP Calc BC: Kicking my butt (I am probably going to end up with a B unless I got a good grade on the recent test and life averages out)

AP World: Kicking my butt, have a test, totally not ready, have to study all the chapters this weekend

AP Bio: Kicking my butt, I am hopefully going to end with an A, just did a lab that I did well on but I have a test on tuesday so I have to study all the chapters for that

Everything else is fine, but I gotta get studying, hard week ahead

@SheepLover‌ I took World and Bio last year. Good luck, bro. Bozeman Science helps a lot with bio, just saying.

I just finished my first term of sophomore year yesterday. Even though I got straight A’s, I’m somewhat disappointed with myself since most of them were in danger of dropping to a B because I didn’t really put much effort into them. I’m going to try to learn from my mistakes, however, and try doing better next term, especially since I have AP World History next term.

I’m a freshman, and everything is in the A range except for AP Bio, which I might get a B in. Ugh! But I learned from my mistakes and am starting to try new study techniques this year.

Everything’s pretty good. First quarter ended Friday but no finalized grades until tomorrow. So far, I have a low albeit solid B in math, a high B (not quite B+ but close) in AP Chem, and A’s in everything else. Currently trying to outreach to new potential friends and expand my social circle, which is…an interesting, shall we say, mix of results. I have the ACT in a couple weeks and hoping for around a 28 composite without studying and a 30 if I manage to study some. The PSAT’s on Wednesday so I have to study for that too, as this is the year it actually counts for National Merit stuff. But first, I have to go finish math homework.

Loving senior year except for Calc. It takes effort that I really don’t wanna put in :stuck_out_tongue: I got bit hard by the senioritis bug, clearly.

Not so good :frowning: I was sick for the first 4 days of midterm week… So now I have a C in English and a B- in Algebra ;-;

Sophomore year is a lot harder than freshman year, for sure, and balancing all my ECs is getting hard; nevertheless, I’m surviving.

However, I’m around 99% sure one of my teachers really, really doesn’t like me (but I return the sentiment), and I’m not sure about a couple of others…

I’ve got 3 Bs, though; two (Spanish and Chem, which are both B+s that resulted from silly beginning-of-the-year mistakes) I should easily be able to bring up, but I’m more worried about Precalc, for which I’ll have to be very careful in order to get an A (and into Calc BC next year).

My senior year is okay. The classes are easy, but there’s a lot of stress with applications. Also, I’ve been traveling a lot for competitions and conferences, so I’ve fallen a bit behind in schoolwork and need to stop neglecting it :(

I just found out my Spanish teacher entered everyone’s grades wrong so I still have an A in that class (thankfully).

I haven’t done homework at home in 2-3 weeks and it’s starting to catch up to me. At least my grades are good.

Senior year is going okay so far…AP Physics 1 is kicking my butt, though…
