I am still a Junior, have not taken the SATs yet, but I am starting to think about what East Coast colleges I should consider if I want to be a dentist. I am an A-B+ student. Any suggestions? thanks!

Go to the easiest school you’ll excel at to get your best grades. That will get you into dental school!

are you a dentist?

It’s interesting to consider that a barber and a dentist have very similar jobs - the dentist just does his or hers a couple inches lower than the barber. :)

Go to a good undergrad school that has a good dental school. It doesn’t have to be the priciest top school unless you’re family is affluent and they can pay or you’ll get great aid without a bunch of loans…

Remember, if you have to borrow a lot of money for undergrad, that can cause problems if you need to also borrow a lot of money for Dental school. Try to do undergrad as cheaply as you can (minimal loans), while still getting a quality education.

If there isn’t an economical choice for undergrad with a dental school, then choose the best choice that is strong in bio, chem, math and physics.

Thank you, mom2collegekids, I appreciate your insight.
I’ll look into it, any recommendations?-yes, I will have to take a loan during college-

I would think Carolina, NYU are good choices. Not sure what other colleges have a dental school after graduation. Good Luck!

check out the Combined-Degree Program in Dentistry at Lehigh, its with the University of Pennsylvania. You do the program in seven years, but I assume its highly competitive
