Which college would best prepare me for dental school?

<p>I'm an incoming senior in high school, and of course, summer is the time to really decide which colleges you want to apply to!</p>

<p>I want to become a dentist in the future, so dental school is a must, but before I think about that, I must first decide on a college for my undergrad studies. :D</p>

<p>So far, I have chosen:</p>

<p>UPenn- 7 year dental program (Def. Reach x.x)</p>

<p>UCLA- this I just chose not too long ago. (Reach because I'm out of state & asian x.x)</p>

<p>NYU- 7 year program (too expensive)</p>

<p>Rutgers- Match/Safety</p>

<p>Temple - it's cheap, and my dentist actually went to grad school here, but eh. I don't like the location, and it just seems too non-prestigious; I feel like it would be like high school all over again. No offense to anyone reading this :( Just my opinion is all. (Def. Safety)</p>

<p>Okay... so as you can see, I'm not too confident about my choices right now.
I think Rutgers would be my best bet, honestly.</p>

<p>I think I want to major in biology, but again, not too sure.</p>

<p>Oh and also, what do you think about these colleges?

<p>You can prepare yourself for dental school well at any of the schools you have mentioned.</p>

<p>Notice that I have switched the subject and the object of your inquiry. You prepare yourself for dental school, by working hard.</p>

<p>UPenn’s dental school has accelerated programs linked with many undergraduate schools (Muhlenberg, etc). I know a few kids who applied to this program, and I can say it’s easier getting into the program from a different linked school for undergrad than the main Penn/Penn one. The end result is still Penn’s dental school so I’d suggest you look into that. </p>

<p>What state are you from? Rutgers I believe has an accelerated dental program with UMDNJ.</p>

<p>Californian schools are forbidden by state law to discriminate in any way against a particular ethnicity, so you being an Asian should not be a problem. Since you’re OOS, however, the UCs are probably not the best choices.</p>

<p>Well as someone who attends Temple, and went to HS 20 minutes away in suburban Philly, it feels nothing remotely like HS all over again. Also, if you don’t like the location, I suggest you remove Penn, since it’s also in Philadelphia. Non-prestigious isn’t a term anyone uses, and FWIW, we have the 2nd oldest school of dentistry in the U.S. We were good enough for many successful people in business, athletics, arts, science, and academia, which includes the president of Princeton, several current and former congressmen, one of the most well known restauranteurs in the country, several national radio talk show hosts, an anchor on MSNBC, and an anchor on ESPN SportsCenter.</p>
