I was rejected and placed on the parking waitlist. So my question is has ANYONE in the past gotten off the waitlist and gotten parking? Should I appeal, has anyone had any success with parking appeals?

Should I just try to look for parking in the apartment complexes when school opens?

I'm really frustrated by this, I'm a third year next year and I was denied parking last year. :(

Any help would be appreciated.

what was your reason you gave for needing parking? but i would say you would have a much higher chance of getting a permit with an appeal than just off the waitlist.

I live at home but fairly close. (4 miles away) I even put that I had an off-campus job, I really don't know what went wrong.

Hmm, I am sorry about your situation.

I was approved but it says only for fall quarter so I'm guessing that means I have to apply again each quarter?

it's probably 'cause they don't think 4 miles is far enough to warrant parking...

I got denied too. Really looking forward to a half-hour drive turning into four hours on the bus.

:(

However I also looked at the parking fees I won't have to pay. :)

I would like to have transportation, and I thought an off campus job guaranteed parking.

That's weird. I have a job about 4 miles off-campus and I was approved. But yes I would appeal if I were you.

was there any way for freshman to apply even if they didn't have a job on campus

The online form only allows you to apply if you have a job off-campus or were commuting to school. If you didn't have either of those I think you can apply in person but your chances are still slim.

freshmen who have regents can get parking.

btw, there is no restriction such as "first years can't have cars." not true. the reason most first (and second) years don't have cars is because they live in the dorms and don't work off campus, which are really the only ways to get parking. unless you're regents. and then you're just too special for words ;)

i havent been notified of a rejection or acceptance of parking.... are they sending them out in waves?

they should mail out a postcard saying you were denied, but online is much faster.

how far is your off campus job, and how many hours do you work? that also plays a big role, its not just that you have one so you automatically get parking.

thanks for the responses, I'm going to appeal.

My job is 4 miles away. I put 20 hours a week.

Is it 3 weekdays a week or more? I think it says on the parking website that you have to work a minimum 3 weekdays to qualify.
