I got a 2330 (800 CR, 760 M, 770 W), but a 9 essay.

I got a 35 (35 Eng, 36 M, 35 Sci, 34 Rea), but an 8 essay (31 adjusted reading thing).

Now, the colleges I will be applying to (Ivy-caliber) require that I take the ACT w/ essay. Does this mean that they actually care what I get on the essay? Will colleges think I can't write simply because of my scores on essays written in half an hour?

I know if I take the SAT or ACT again, I'll get a 2300+ or 35+. So should I take one of them again solely to improve my crappy essay scores?

I doubt that they'd take that essay into consideration...your essay that you include in your college application will likely be what they consider.

My scores were 800 CR, 760 M, and 710 W with an 8 or 9 essay, and I'm going to Dartmouth. I was rejected from the only other Ivy I applied to (Princeton), but I'd hardly blame my essay score for that.

I got a 6 on MY essay...for a 650. I hate writing with a small time constraint. I always get nervous. Its just funny that I got such a low essay score but a 700 in CR and Lit. I'm taking the SAT again because my college offers a writing class exemption for a 720.

There is very little difference between a 2330 and a 2400, regardless of how you did on the essay. Do not retake anything. Your scores on both tests are perfect. (I have an acquaintance who hired a $25,000 college consultant - her child was advised NOT to retake a 2200 test. She is targeting ivy league schools.) Congratulations on your scores.
