So if we got in ED, how low can our grades now go?

I have a 3.97 GPA up until now but it'll probably dip a bit.

Will they rescind my admissions for a C and a lot of B's?

I think they would. A C is basically dead already, and a lot of B's to go along with, you might as well get ready for a local or state school.

No. One C won't kill you. As long as you can pull up some of those grades to A's next semester, you should be fine. Don't let it drop anymore though.

Are you sure? From everything I have heard, a C for the Ivy's is thin ice.

One C isn't killer. Anymore, and there may be an issue. Thats just seems logical.

Don't drop more than one letter grade. So while one C isn't so bad, going from A to C will not look good. I don't think they'd rescind so easily though-- most likely they'd send a letter saying that they're disappointed, or put you on academic probation once you start.

"put you on academic probation once you start."

oooo ouch that would suck. carrying high school baggage to college. . . . .

Yea it really would. So kids, keep your grades up! lol

i heard that as long as you dont get anything below a D you're fine...
they'd be pretty lenient i'd think..
after all, anyone would want to relax in high schl after getting accepted to a college

a C is thin ice?

actually, from what i've heard, once low grade isn't that bad. as long as you don't outright fail, i don't think a dip in grades will really hurt you.

they've accepted you already. they want you. why would they turn you away unless you gave them supreme reason to????

Because in december they took the person with straight A's and suddenly a person with straight D's is enrolling? I don't think they want people with that kind of work ethic. Just to be safe, don't go beyond a letter drop. I think there are some schools for which you're fine as long as you don't outright fail, but considering this is an ivy with many many qualified candidates, I don't think it's smart to put yourself in any kind of jeopardy.

I wonder if Columbia likes its RD admits and matriculants better, if they decide once it's too late and the RD round has come along that they've admitted a good egg who turned bad.

zantedeschia ... i wasn't suggesting borderline failure.

but hey, it's 2nd semester. you've worked all of high school and you'll work hard in college. just take the APs and stop stressing about grades.
