With the recent surge in applications and rising test scores, is NU finally on the rise?

For a while, it seemed stagnant with an acceptance rate of 30 for the last 5-6 years. If you looked in old college books from the early 2000s, you will see that Duke and NU had similar acceptance rates and test scores. The same applied to Cornell and Penn. However, these schools have seen their acceptance rates fall while NU's has remain relatively constant.

What you guys think? If it can better identify applicants who will come, its yield should rise as well?

i think yield is highly overrated on these boards. it's nice that northwestern is getting more selective but i also like it for just being an all-around awesome school, so i really just hope that aspect of it doesn't change, that the campus vibe remains the same, and the social life doesn't calm down, because that's what makes it good. if you want a school in chicago full of academics and people who take that kind of stuff too seriously, that's what uchicago is for

if we do start getting better i hope it's in the spirit of princeton or duke and not columbia or yale
