So, little boys and girls, what do you want to be when you grow up?

I want to be a lawyer when I grow up

When I grow up I want to be a pediatric neurologist!

I want to be Elon Musk when I grow up. He gets to play with rockets, cars, the internet, and anything else he imagines. I love that

However, Iā€™m thinking Iā€™m probably going to end up astronautic engineer with a major or background in computer/electrical engineering, since that is just amazing and you can do everything with it.

You guys are answering the question wrong.

When I grow up I want to be HAPPY.

I agree with the comment above.
Everyone wants to be something that takes a lot of schooling, hard work, talent, and intelligenceā€¦ Over here, I want to be an American Sign Language/English Interpreter (which still requires all of the above, but not as much as something like a doctor or a lawyer!). As fifth in my class, Iā€™m willing to step down to a job that most of you would frown uponā€¦but, I am excited to directly help the Deaf community and do something I truly love and am interested in for the rest of my life. I thought I wanted to be a pharmacist, but I realized I was just saying that because I knew it would make a lot of money. I hope yā€™all are picking these difficult, high-paying jobs because you think they will truly make you happy, not because of the income.

Ever since I was young, I was obsessed with bread: Jalapeno Cheddar, Hearty Italian, Monterey Cheddar, Flatbread, Italian. The list goes on and one. And of course, the classic white bread. I became in love with sliced bread because afterall there is nothing better than sliced bread.

Then one fateful day, I learned about a type of bread I never saw before on Spongebob: canned bread. I was devastated. I thought I knew all there is to know about bread but alas I was wrong. Since that moment, bread has become my passion. Iā€™ve become addicted to studying bread. I eat, sleep, drink bread.

Iā€™m going to become a bread scientist just like my idol is Stan Cauvain. Maybe if Iā€™m lucky, Iā€™ll get to write a book about bread.

@MovingtoTexas Iā€™m very impressed with your ardor for slices of wheat! Can you possibly tell me whatā€™s wrong with this loaf of bread I bought?

@PhilipLā€Œ @chasingmymd1ā€Œ

I agree with you guys. I think what we ā€œwantā€ to be turns out to be other ppls influence (for ex. My parents want me to be a doctor) but what I want for real is to be a astronaut like how cool is that?! exploring the universe would be awesome and representing NASA and everything will be great.
But then looking at this realistically:I canā€™t. Whatever I turn out to be as long as Iā€™m happy and somehow contribute to the community through good worksā€“Iā€™ll be alright.

I want to be an orthopedic surgeon who uses orthopedic bioengineering to develop artificial replacements for bones, cartilage, ligaments and tendons! I would also like to be an NBA doctor, agriscience researcher, and community activist

Hopefully what Dr. Sanjay Gupta does. A medical journalist/reporter for global health while simultaneously working as a practicing neurosurgeon. I think heā€™s also a professor at Emory Med School but I donā€™t know if Iā€™d want to do that.

However, I could also take the opposite direction and become a healthcare management consultant (I like telling people what to do).

Well I just at least want to be able to combine several of my passions into one job haha

Chemical engineering, probably w/ a focus on environmental issues

also, this thread is awesome
