So ladies and gentlemen...as the notification date approaches (less than a week!!!), the sad truth that all of us will not get in has finally dawned on me (and I'm sure lots of you guys as well). I was just wondering what other schools you all are applying to? Any schools you found similar to Cornell? (of course none will compare, but any other big universities with the whole "any person, any study" vibe?)

My college decision came down to Cornell and Vanderbilt…academically, they seem pretty comparable, and I’m seriously considering Vandy for grad school.

Best of luck!

pennstate is my other school. i know yall think it’s dumb to apply to an ivy league and then to a okay public school but it’s either cornell (my dream school) or psu where most of my friends are gonna go

It’s not dumb at all! The worst thing you can do is only apply to top tier/Ivy League schools…you need to be realistic and have back-ups that you know you can get into and are willing to go to.

I’m applying to Harvey Mudd, Olin College, RPI, SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Stony Brook, Cooper Union, MIT [lol], Rice, Stevens Inst. Of Technology.
Mudd, RPI, Rice and Cooper are targets.
SUNY’s and Stevens = safeties
MIT and Olin are reaches.

UConn, Penn State, UMich, Rice, Brown, Lehigh

privates: Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard (hahahaha…), UChicago, Tufts, Williams, Carleton, Grinnell.

UCs: Berkeley, Davis, Santa Cruz, San Diego, LA.

If I don’t get in, I don’t really know what kind of school I want to go to. I want to have options, hence the apparently random mix of schools.

Duke, Dartmouth, Johns Hopkins then Syracuse, Lehigh and UConn as my safety schools.

Most of my other choices are quite comparable with cornell…so if i do not get in… it will be a demoralizing signal…
Let’s cross our fingers…
