So out of these 10 schools, how many do you think I'll be admitted to?

This is for FUN; let’s see how accurate we can be! (BTW, I know I’m not a particularly good applicant.)

Essays:
Common App: 9/10. Very in-depth story about the relationship between my autistic brother and me.
UNC: 7/10. Funny, quirky, and relatable.
NYU: 8/10. Really clever, I enjoyed writing it.
CMU: 9/10. Witty, funny, and effective at explaining why CMU is a good fit.
JHU: 7/10. I thought it was good, but I didn’t feel very passionate when writing it.
Duke: 9/10. Really out of the box and fun to write.
Cornell: 8/10. Very solid, witty, and appropriately funny.
Columbia: 7/10. Similar problem to JHU, but still good.
UPenn: 8/10. All-around a really good supplement.
Harvard: 9/10. Did a good job at conveying myself as an applicant and was pretty fun to write.
Princeton: 10/10. Had three people read it, and all three of them cried, not to mention a dope ending.

Recommendations:
Teacher Rec. #1: 10/10. My Stats teacher who has caused everyone who has read the essay to cry.
Teacher Rec. #2: 9/10. My Spanish teacher. I’m apparently the best-speaking student he’s ever had.
Counselor Rec.: 8/10. I’ve had a lot of face-time with my counselor to work out schedules and things.
Additional Rec.: 8/10. From my football coach who says that I’m the smartest player he’s ever coached, but it’s not very specialized.

Other:
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male
State: NC
Income: $80,000
Intended Major: Statistics (I intend to get a PhD)

1-2, UNC and NYU (still most likely hard with those test scores)

Do you have a safety? I am inclined to agree, UNC and NYU are most likely. Probably not for the rest, unless your test scores improve. For schools that require subject tests, it is not usual to take both math tests, and your percentile is low on Math II. Sorry… not making this fun.

0-2

3-4

1

2 max - UNC and NYU or CMU.

I’d say 3-4, but do you have a safety school? UNC and NYU seem like matches, but I’d never be too sure.

UNC is my safety because I’m in-state. People from my school with ranks that are way worse and worse test scores usually get in no problem. I’m fairly confident on this one.

2-3

definitely und, probably nyu, possibly cmu/jhu, the rest is unpredictable but if your essays are as good as you say i would guess you would probably get into one of the unpredictables

Even if you get into some of these, it will be hard to pay for with $80,000 income. (NYU, CMU, JHU)

If you are instate and can get into UNC that is an excellent choice.

What are the financial safeties, or ones where you could get significant merit?

I think Duke, Carnegie Mellon, UNC, and NYU

UNC, NYU max probably. For the others your scores seem too low. Maybe a slim chance at CMU/Duke, but ivies, almost definitely no. Good luck.

1, possibly 2

All it takes is a hiccup in a rec letter that you don’t realize is there, or a misjudgment on an essay topic. I’d add a more sure safety if I were you. You still have 2 weeks to the NC State RD deadline.

Very true. Thanks a lot for the advice.
