My daughter spends about 30 minutes every day repeatedly emailing a few colleges, that have outstanding items on her application portal of things that have been sent several times, emailed, faxed. One college continues to ask for Student Non Filer Tax Ino, for 2015 and 2016, and after she sent that, a new item of 2015 Student W2 form, “missing.” I mean WTF, people! If she is a Non-Filer, she is not producing a W2.
Glad these days are behind me.
Well, she could. It wouldn’t be unusual for someone to have income that’s reported on a W-2 and yet have no requirement (or reason) to file a tax return.
So, is there a form that says, “I don’t have any W2s” She has filled out many forms and worksheets at this point that has made it clear, she does not have income to declare, that we don’t have trusts, that we don’t have assets, that we don’t own a house.
I bet that in a lot of cases those alerts and requests for documents are generated automatically. I know it’s frustrating, and it might take multiple attempts, but the applicant just needs to let the school know that what is being asked for does not exist. You can’t provide what you don’t have.
