Simply because I’m a first year CC student, despite the fact that I meet all the IGETC requirements as well as the major pre-requisites. I completed 30 CSU credits in high school, and by the end of the spring term, I will have completed 36 more at my local CC. I currently have a 3.83 GPA, and I’m exceedingly confident that it will not fall below that for my final grades.

BUT since apparently Cal Poly doesn’t look at fall 2011 grades–like all the UCs and CSUs do-- I’m screwed because that is all I have.

Does anybody have any ideas? Or at least commiserate with me, hahaha.

You can apply for transfer to Cal Poly at anytime. If you apply prior the completion of 60 college units, you will be applying as a underclassman transfer and therefore, you will also need to send in your high school grades along with your college grades.

However, if you have not completed all your transfer perquisites as recommended by Cal Poly, it will adversely impact your chance of getting in.

So if I were to not enroll in some of the classes for spring, and end up below 60 credits by the end of spring 2012, they would look at my high school grades/test scores as well as what I’m taking at CC? Because I had a 3.6 GPA, 2100 SAT, and 31 ACT.
I could have all my prerequisites done, but not completely finish my IGETC and fall below 60 credits.

If you apply with 60 units or less, you will need to send in your HS grades and SAT/ACT score along with your CC grades. Under that scenario, you will be a freshman/sophomore transfer, unlike majority of the CC students who are junior transfer with 60 units or more completed.

Cal Poly has a set of transfer prerequisites (for each major) they like a transfer student to have already completed prior to transferring. You need to make sure you meet those specific requirements or speak with your CC transfer assistance office and Cal Poly’s admission to ensure you got the most critical parts completed for your intended major.

Applying with under 60 units is not an issue if your CC and HS grades, ACT/SAT scores are good and you have completed the prereq. they ask for. So call CP’s admissions to make sure of what you need.
